Vietnam gave China an embarrassing bloody nose in the late 70s over a border skirmish.
To: BenLurkin
Vietnam has called on the US and other nations to help !?!?!?! Help? Let the two red countries tear each other up. Why should we care. Sheesh.

As a bitter Vietnam veteran (Class of 66-67)..I hope that China nukes them, like we should have done in the first place.

There is a good documentary loaded on Youtube about that little skirmish.
The Vietnamese didn't even use their best division against the Chinese.
It would be different today since the Chinese have a modern airforce, artillery, nukes, etc. but I still think they would get lit up a bit if they put boots in the jungle.

My dad and uncles, both being Nam vets, said Westmoreland could have ended that war if he had his way.
If I recall correctly, the North Vietnamese were about to go to the table for peace talks then the US called off the bombing of the North.

Obama will respond by bombing Arizona.
To: randomhero97
Would it be possible for you to provide me with a link to it? I love such documentaries...

Wars need to be fought like WW II was fought...unconditional surrender or we keep up the killing.

I just did a quick search and it appears the one I watched is not there anymore. It was a few years ago when I watched it.
When I get a chance later I will go through my archived bookmarks and see if I still have it.

Sure - when they turn over the guards from the Hanoi Hilton - until then - pound sand.

I too am a veteran of two tours in Vietnam and agree that we have NO DOG in this fight.

I’ll have to pass on that one. Did my best to help them once. Maybe Jane Fonda’s available.

I kinda thought Vietnam was a us surrogate these days. If they’re looking to Obama to have their back, God help ‘em.
To: Meadow Muffin
I believe that was the Gen. Curtis LeMay strategy..(Bomb ‘em back to the stone-age) God Bless him! Too bad he didn't get his way..
and BTW...Welcome Home Brother! (from the class of 67-8-9)
as an ironic insight and a little known fact....I spent some time back then chasing Russian helicopters on the Cambodian border believed to be operated by the Chinese....
