The Car That Thinks It's A Tank: Inside Obama's 'Beast' Cadillac that is being flown from the U.S. to drive down the Mall By CHRIS GREENWOOD and REBECCA ENGLISH 23rd May 2011

An extraordinary entourage will accompany President Obama and his wife Michelle when they sweep into London tomorrow. The team of at least 500 will include White House aides, a six-doctor medical team and a squad of personal chefs. There will be more than 200 secret service agents, many of them armed. The President will travel in ‘The Beast’, his gigantic bomb-proof General Motors Cadillac with eight-inch thick armour-plating on its doors. The limousine will be accompanied by a motorcade of at least 20 vehicles plus a dozen police motorcycle outriders.

He will land in Britain on Air Force One. But if this picture is anything to go by, Barack Obama might prefer journeying by sea rather than plane. Dressed in a pirate hat, eyepatch and striped red shirt, the ten-year-old Obama was posing before a Hallowe’en party. He is also decked out with a homemade sword, earrings – and a drawn-on moustache and beard. The photo is part of an exhibition by residents of flats in Honolulu,

An employee of the U.S. Secret Service accidentally sent out a tweet on the official Secret Service twitter account this week saying that he or she “had to monitor Fox for a story. Can’t. Deal. With. The. Blathering.”

The tweet was almost immediately taken down, but not before some quick-acting bloggers copied it.

“An employee with access to the Secret Service’s Twitter account, who mistakenly believed they were on their personal account, posted an unapproved and inappropriate tweet,” Special Agent in Charge Edwin M. Donovan said in a statement to ABC News. “The tweet did not reflect the views of the U.S. Secret Service and it was immediately removed. We apologize for this mistake, and the user no longer has access to our official account. “

Sounds political to me.

I don’t think I have ever even seen one unless it was an inert one in a museum.

I read a book titled “Ashes of Honor” written by an SS soldier serving in Russia. (It was one of the best books I have ever read btw). Anyway one of their favorite weapons was the Panzerfaust which appears to be the predecessor of the RPG. They all liked it, said it would take out a Russian tank with no trouble when they were close.

A ballistic vest placed on a hard surface is nothing better than a t shirt. Placed on a soft human body like backer such as a thick phone book an the vest will stand up to its rating.

Body armor today will stop rated threats.

Frag vests of yesteryears will stop fragments of rounds of ammo or parts of their vehicle or aircraft that are damaged.

My Barrett M82A1M with commerical or military ball will trash any body armor. Now military AP or APIT will really do damage to any form of worn body armor.

Is that a good explanation ....?

No soft armor on hard surface.

Stay safe...

"There will be more than 200 secret service agents, many of them armed."

Gasp! MANY of them? WTH - does our secret service have to relinquish weapons because of Britan's pussy-assed gun laws?

Thanks for tech information. I am sure it is well designed and should be.

Like you, I wish him no harm but have dreamed since his coronation about him being removed from 1600 Penn. Ave. in handcuffs.

You have a Barret? I would be jealous but even if I owned one I couldn’t afford to shoot more than once a month.

Several years ago I was at a gun show in Dothan, Alabama. There was one guy selling a bunch of high end rifles including one of the first Barrets. He had five or six different guns with serial numbers 1, 2 or 3. The Barret was one of those. He had a Voere .22, serial number 1.

He must have needed to raise money because they were all very reasonably priced. If I remember right, and I might not, he wanted only $2000 for the Barret. It was a bolt action one. I still wish I had bought that Voere .22 as I once had a dealer in Garden City, KS order one and he couldn’t get it.

The blood is a neat touch, but he forgot to mention the coffin of soil from the President’s native country, I don’t think think the undead can regenerate properly without it.

Also didn’t realize that “tyre” was the British version of “tire”. Plus, only 60 mph? I bet they have a turbo or supercharger on the diesel if it really has to book.

Pointing how many people and what it takes to protect Obama is a losing game

No, it's "working the midsection".

Our president is more insulated than even a monarch like the Queen of England. It doesn’t add to the health of our nation.
