Is Donald Trump the new Ronald Reagan? Trump would like you to think so
YahooNews (The Daily Caller) ^ | 4/26/2011 | Chris Moody

The team helping to fuel Donald Trump’s run for president is working to brand the real estate mogul as the new Ronald Reagan, a notion Reagan’s closest aides call “preposterous.”

Draft Trump 2012, an independent committee that supports his potential bid for president, is hosting a speech in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday to “Bring Back the Reagan Revolution,” which they say will occur if Donald Trump is elected president. The group blasted out an ad for the event Monday, complete with shots of Reagan and Trump side by side with the tag-line, “From Ronald to Donald.”

Granted, it’s a Republican right of passage for a candidate to prove their worthiness of the Gipper’s legacy. But Trump?

So what?
He asks questions NOBODY ELSE (Hi there RINOs!) dares to ask.
Good for him.

AGREE.

There are times when we need to place focus on FIRST THINGS FIRST.

First thing, we need to know we have a legitimate President...if we don’t ferret out truth on that most fundamental of questions, all else becomes academic.

Trump has stormed into the fray and is serving this goal.

Please, all, support him in this.

You can have your philosphical disagreements—and vetting—later. There will be time.

We need to stay unified on GOAL ONE.

You completely miss the point.

I am all for Trump asking these questions of the Kenyan. But Trump has already been labeled a joke. And in light of his support of liberal policies and politicians, comparing himself to Ronald Reagan pretty much confirms it.

If Trump wants to be taken seriously, and when it comes to questioning the Kenyan I really hope he is, then he will hastily abandon this preposterous comparison. If not, he and his campaign will continue to be labeled as a joke and making matters worse, he, himself, will be providing the punch line.

Trump is a lot closer to being the “next Ronald Reagan” than Barack Obama, who was touted as such not too long ago.

Labeling Trump a “joke” is the time-honored and effective evisceration strategy employed by the left, and egged on by it’s evil handmaiden, the media and it’s most impactful ridiculer cousin, popular entertainment celebs.

It is how they destroyed a golden, rare and honest candidate like Sarah Palin as a viable option.

Feeding crap to the unthinking masses in hip entertainment packaging (ie, Tina Fey, for whom there waits a special place in Hell, imho)was as evil as it comes.Fey elicits nausea in me. She is an insect.

So the left has had success in labeling threats to Obama a “joke”.

They’ve dispatched it again, calling Trump a clown..what arrogance, if Trump is so stupid, quite odd that it is he that is laughing all the way to the bank for his business savvy.

But the piling on to ridicule and laugh off Trump is all the more reason we need to stay unified and let the gladiator Trump fight this out.

We can argue his candidacy merits after we’ve secured the spoils in exposing Obama.

DITTOS!

And pray tell, what is so difficult about recognizing and EMBRACING someone who is exposing and dissecting who is our (Conservatives') main target, the Fascist Community Agitator and why oppose someone who is doing it effectively?

Likewise, who among the Republican candidates or wannabes has been as vocal and direct in their attacks against the Messiah?

I am beyond the point of frustration over so many of my fellow Freepers having gone off the deep end and expending so much time and energy trying to destroy Trump while he is doing God's work.

Leaving the Birther issue aside, he is also challenging Zero's obvious, intellectual paucity and questioning how someone who is average at best could have gotten accepted at Hawwwvadd?

He is also been critical of OPEC and the Chinese, something no other Pol has had the stones to do

Better yet, he is tweaking the State Run Media and driving them nuts as they have to report on what he says while realizing that his attacks on Dear Leader are beginning to resonate.

Finally Trump is challenging the Ruling Class, RINO, inside-the-Beltway, elitist, such as Rove and Krauthammer, which I doubt any true Conservative would suggest is a bad thing?

As you and I and others have argued, there will be time enough to decide whether to support Trump; whether he is serious or will be a dividing cipher later.

For the time being all you who suffer from "TDS," PULEEEZE, STFU!!!

Reagan was His own man. Won’t be another. Republicans and democrats did not like Him. I remember the conventions. But Trump is His own man. He won’t care who is saying things about Him. Don’t like Him, then don’t vote for Him in the primaries.

The way I see it, the republicans have had TWO entire years(+) to offer up a solid, unbeatable candidate against Obama—— which, incidentally, would not have been that difficult to do. Instead, they continue with their insipid in-fighting and political correctness. The kow-towing to Obama makes me sick. Donald Trump is demonstrating true guts, a rarity among republicans right now.

He is serving a purpose but to who? To himself and his empire, to the clintons or to the GOP. He is and always has been for the Donald, heard a high post was given to a close family member by Bill Clinton, payback for hillary to move in in 2012 or GOP hired him to take the heat for the so called “mean spirited” things they would like to say but dare not......just saying. He’s the only one out there right now that is unafraid to tell the emperor he has no clothes, and if you don’t like it..to bad!

Thanks for the advice. But I've been voting for 35 years so I already knew not to vote for a RINO fraud in the primaries.

Strategic thinking!

Please switch on your big picture, strategic thinking cap!

Support Trump now in his quest to expose Obama.

Keep your powder dry for just a bit longer.

You can go after Trump all guns blazing after we get some real traction in tearing down the facade that is Obama.

Please stay focused on the number one goal FOR NOW.

Exposing Obama. Trump is our best shot in making that happen.

Firstly, this forum is intended for the exchange of ideas. Secondly, it is a conservative forum. So I doubt many will heed your demand that they turn a blind eye and bite their tongues, aka, "STFU" when they see a flip-flopping, charlatan conservative wanna-be like Trump trying to hijack the party.

I’m all for Trump asking the hard questions of the Kenyan. But he is no conservative. And as long as he continues to foist himself into the media spotlight under the guise of being something he clearly is not I/we will deride him for it whether you like it or not. So no, I will no STFU.

We need to stay unified on GOAL ONE.

In case you've missed it, GOAL ONE is Donald Trump.

Dust off those Ross Perot buttons if you need a reminder.

Depends on what you mean by "TDS."

If you mean any of us who do not support Trump as our nominee, are you really asking that we just remain silent?

You might have to find another forum for that.

I like that Trump is asking the right questions, but take a look at his background and his political campaign contributions. Look at some of the things he has said in the past.

And don't tell other FReepers to STFU just because they don't agree with you.
