Obama: Why Not Golf?

Obama: Why Not Golf?

Mid April 2011, Palm Sunday finds President playing a quick 18 holes as a means of unwinding, relaxing and stress relief. The people in both the Midwest and southern segment of the Atlantic region can’t play golf today. They are salvaging the remnants of their homes, burying their dead and trying desperately to help their neighbors. These people are not worthy of the President’s attention. They have no advocacy groups raging about a claim to victim hood among those hardest hit. There are no political points to be scored by even mentioning how self reliant, Christian people who, when faced with adversity, pull together to get through it.

The welfare of the citizens, especially those who do not garner the mantle of “victim” are not even on his radar. In Iowa, redistribution holds an entirely different meaning than it does in Washington, DC. In Iowa, churches, machinery sheds and barns are being used to help those hardest hit by the EF3 storms that recently ravaged places like Mapleton with its population of 1,294 people. That is to say those who no longer have homes or even the basic necessities of life. Within 24 hours, three churches banded together as a distribution points to coordinate the donations of food, clothing, furniture and the continual reports of lost and found for the affected people. Redistribution, Iowa style means giving whatever you’ve got to give to your neighbor as it could have just as easily been your home that was flattened by the storms.

Had the weather impacted a “minority community”, possibly Muslim, Black or Hispanic the federal machine would jump to offer assistance amidst a flurry of righteous accolades. In Iowa no such jump to action has been offered. The Midwest has been pummeled with floods and tornadoes in recent years. This fact may garner a news blurb but it has not risen to any appreciable plea for assistance. On April 13th, a group of 85 Aplington-Parkersburg High School students traveled 185 miles by bus to Mapleton to help. They went without want or need of remuneration. Their homes were hit in 2008 so they knew what to expect.

Repeatedly flood waters swelled the rivers devastating homes and erasing entire towns throughout the Midwest. A year after such floods, insurance claims had gone unpaid and no serious attempt to offer assistance, by the government, has been forthcoming. In some cases victims in Iowa were given the rejected moldy trailers leftover from Katrina to clean-up and live in. Gallons of bleach were used as well as no end work took place as the trailers were supposed to be a temporary accommodation. Federal authorities viewed the fiasco from an accounting perspective rather than calculating the human cost. In other words; authorities were meaningless, irrelevant and probably in the way of rebuilding.

The lens this President uses to view the peons of this nation is one of disdain. A story has meaning to him only when political points can be scored. Self reliant people undercut his entire philosophy and he resents them. If it means slanting a story, one way or the other, that is perfectly acceptable as was illustrated during the famous “Beer Summit” when the “stupid cop” (Obama’s words) was invited to the White House. There is a staff of Czars working in the White House and they hold unbridled power. There is no Czar that is responsible for responding to emergencies. The Czars have power to alter Political issues and are not nearly as concerned with “acts of God” as they are with policy intended to control individuals.

The people of the Midwest and mid Atlantic region will get through this with or without the Federal Government; they’ve been doing it for years. The truth be known, they would probably dismiss a government representative as - unwanted. Their disaster serves to point out the arrogance and priorities of this Administration. If arrogance were a crime, this Administration would have been impeached long ago.

As a Floridian I was spared this time. Maybe the next time it will be a hurricane and the damage will be in my hometown. I have already seen that despite all the feigned concern, Mr. Obama could not care less about the lives and safety of the citizens of this country. While Rome burned Nero played lyre (fiddle). How appropriate it is that while Americans recover from massive tornado damage, Obama plays golf.

This is just one more example of the disdain this President feels toward the people. It is so prevalent that the people have become used to this classless routine. We tend to overlook the obvious (the golf game) as it is simply the next chapter in the continuing saga.

He personally called the governor of North Carolina and pledged whatever help the Feds could provide.

Whatever

QUESTION: If the US were under attack would Obama reach for his 3 iron or his 5 iron?

ANSWER: It's a trick question - he would be cowering in his bunker.
