Classic case of undermining what could have been legitimate criticism with over-the-top language. He could have just pointed out that bankrupting the state with social spending that goes into bureacrats’ pockets is not “protecting the poor and vulnerable” but rather, is robbing our kids of their standard of living for current consumption.

The "bishop" was trying to play the God card in this debate. The only way to trump that card is to show that the "bishop" has no authority to play that card.
