West has already said he is not interested in a presidential run at this time. I look forward to him being the VP candidate with either Palin or Bachmann at the top of the ticket.

Republicans have the fighting instinct of sheep sometimes.

Those sheep just need the right babe to lead (and herd) them.

Do you know when the first woman candidate for President was? It was a while back.

I don’t think anyone should be sidelined, I just do not think there is a set aside and a quota

I don't care if the next President is a male or a female. What matters to me is principle and honor.

I want a candidate who will take the oath of the presidency seriously. I want a candidate who understands the Constitution and won't be working 24/7 to destroy it. I want a candidate who understands that government is the preventer of freedom, not the granter of freedom.

I want a candidate who views the ever-expanding federal government as an impediment to liberty. I want a candidate who is not afraid to express the opinion that the sixteenth and seventeenth Amendments are such impediments to liberty and need to be repealed to restore the promise of the Founders.

I want a candidate who clearly understands that the nation can no longer travel down the path the federal government has set for us because it is a dead-end to poverty and tyranny.

This kind of conversation, concerning skin color or gender being a qualification or an impediment to anything, is the kind of thing the Left obsesses about. I simply won't entertain it. There is far more at stake.

Well I have to agree...as long as she’s white...looks like the black man failed at governing this country but to his credit I’ll give him a BIG A+ for vacations, parties and golf!!

Do not underestimate the power to counter a “historic” president with a “historic” run of our own. Palin being a woman takes many of Obama’s “strengths” off the table and for every cry of racism the left utters the right can cry sexism. Yes it is low brow politics but it is how you diffuse one of your enemies greatest strengths....Gov Palin is a very smart politican to understand this concept. Sadly many on this thread are not politcally astute to see this....

Yeah, I saw a couple of those threads. IIRC, the Paulinistas call him a RINO because he voted for the Patriot Act and others say it is because he is not sufficiently pro-life. When I get a bit more time I plan to research his pro-life stance. What I have so far sounds good, but may be a bit weak in some eyes.

Oh yes. Let's elect a woman to be POTUS simply because "It's time".

Sarah Palin is referring to herself, not just any woman. She is selling herself to the voters. You do know that if she runs, her gender is going to be used against her, right? Well, this is Palin making her case that gender DOES NOT MATTER! Palin is taking the GOP Establishments arguments away from them with a preemptive strike. You folks need to learn to comprehend strategies and not be so quick with the knee jerk reactions. THINK! (or are some of you opposed to her no matter what she says or does?)

“Repubs should be careful...Many didn't step up when she was running as VP...and consequently, it cost McCain and the Repubs dearly.”

Before Palin was on the ticket, McCain was lucky to draw “crowds” of 500 at rallies. If you check Rasmussen's 2008 daily polling, you'll discover the ONLY time McCain was ahead was the days between Palin joining the ticket and the TARP bailing.

If you believe Palin was the reason McCain lost, you are incredibly ignorant.

Better adjust your tin foil hat.

Id love to vote for someone like those guys, but I wonder if the small group of purists is going to do enough harm to effectively give conservatives only one candidate.

This is not a comment directly to you but I hope we can begin to change the language.

Management (decision making ) for what you don't want runs you around in circles and doesn't accomplish a damn thing

We have to change the language. Our founding fathers fought a revolution for _____________(go ahead fill in the blank, if you need a hint, look at the name of the website)In contrast, the French revolution was about?

Every discussion I have with liberals or conservatives is in great detail about what they DON'T want. So, what do we want?

I think we can convert and unite people about the concept of ________, at least we have a chancc. We will never unite people on what they don't want. Successful revolutions are fought on ALL fronts and for something.

No, the women who have run and lost were not elected because people didnt want them as President. No one is sidelining anybody. Should Carol Mosely Braun have been elected? What about Hillary? Why would you support sidelining them, if after all, we have moved beyond that?

I like West but is low % of voting record on spending is cause for concern. He voted less than 75% of the time for spending cuts when the vast majority of the freshman class voted >90% for those same cuts. West is not following his words with actions and until he does my support for a higher office for him is not there yet...

We don’t take turns being President.

Are you sure? I give you Dole and McCain.

The media won’t push a Palin run as “historic.” They’ve already played that tune with Shirley Chisholm AND Hillary Clinton.

There was a Gallup poll a few weeks ago that said that Palin is significantly more popular among moderate/liberal Republicans than conservative Republicans for the nomination as our Presidential candidate. She was also significantly more popular among people who are not religious/never attend services than those who attend on a monthly, weekly, etc. I thought it was a bad sample.

But after seeing all of the pro-gay and pro-feminism comments from Sarah in recent months, I’m really starting to wonder. If the “liberal Republicans” like her more than RINOs Romney and Huckabee or anyone else, there’s really not much of a record she compiled that I feel comfortable looking at to conclude that she’s an authentic conservative aside from what she says.

Her loyalist branch of people who insist that she’s the only option and that it is unreasonable to examine these strange statements she keeps making are also making me suspicious. That’s the kind of behavior we see from Obama-bots on the left - willful blindness is NOT a conservative trait.

Maybe I’m just being stupid, but my gut is telling me that something is fishy.
