Isn’t this the reactor with the uranium and plutonium fuel?

I suspect it was the concrete enclosure not the reactor itself.

Horrible.
THe other building blew though. QUestion is: did the housing blow?
If so = disaster.
There are 30-40 similar GE reactors here in the United States by the way. 40 years old.

CNN says smoke rising from reactor #1 and there was a blast in reactor #3. Anderson Cooper wants to know if he should get out of dodge ... duh!

Of course they are related. The first quake caused the tsunami which has caused all the problems at the nuke plant, and it also has spawned aftershocks that can lead to subsequent tsunamis. Oh, were you thinking that the explosion led to the tsunami? No.

CNN analyst saying hydrogen build up at #3 was reported earlier in the day.
Sanjay Gupta says new official reports of 3 meter high waves observed by helicopter off coast an hour north of Sendai.

Did the reactor explode... or did the building surrounding the reactor and containment, explode like the first one due to tremendous hydrogen build up?
