Scott Walker, Kasich and others are presenting a very logical argument about budgets, costs and taxes. That's great and needed. But they are slowly losing moderates and independents by not pointing out that those of us who pay taxes, work and don't have a government union job are footing the bill for all of these benefits and high salaries. This really is the government bureaucrats against the people who pay the taxes!
The teachers, and other government unions want the right to continue to demand money from the rest of us. The GOP and independents who are fighting these exorbitant demands must not lose sight of this.
We have to right our congressmen, governors and other representatives and tell them to stay on message that this is the well funded, well paid unions against the taxpayers of America. Keep the message true and simple.
Sorry for the rant, but this is one of those watershed moments that really requires us all to work a little harder (by making those calls and sending those emails) to keep those working for us on the right track.
I'm sorry but it seems to me that everyone 'got together' Nov 02, 2010. A message was sent and if they choose not to follow it, well then we'll get together and find someone who will.
Logical explanation by the republicans is what is needed.
You make your case and you prove it by using facts, the truth, historical precedent and statistics to back up the claims.
Republicans can win the hearts and minds of people if they make a good intelligent case for their cause, stick to it, explain it and then hold to it, do not backtrack.
Republicans can win over most people this way, not all because you will still always have the far left loons and liberal zombie sheep and union thugs and commie bastards that make up the democrat party.
Calling you!
BTW, I believe that is the USS Wisconsin.
“I’m sorry but it seems to me that everyone ‘got together’ Nov 02, 2010. A message was sent . . . “
You’re right on that count. - Now, the Democrats who have been in power ever since Spot was a pup are pitching tantrums. It was predictable. The people knew what they were doing when they threw them out of office. I only hope it gets worse for them, and never better. Taxed Enough Already says it all. These unions are full of thugs who have been sucking at the government (taxpayer’s) tit for so long it’s hard to pull them away even a little.
Third paragraph: I believe you mean “write,” not “right” our congressmen.
I don’t know, that ‘right’ inclusion may be the most accurate. ;^)
Sorry, I was out last night.
Folks, the bedrock abilities Conservatives (Republican or not) must develop, is to know the issues, and develop the ability to hit the Left between the eyes on them at will.
If your instincts are good, it doesn’t matter if you’re in a position of power and can’t explain to the public why they are.
The Left has their stories (their version or their lies) ready to go up front, and they are coordinated, on the same page. Our side seems to fumble around and possibly come up with excuses for their actions after the fact, and each person has their own version. We can’t prevail like that.
Not only can we not prevail once we hold public office, we can’t even sell the ideas to get us there.
It’s the articulate well grounded person like Michelle Backmann that we need. And please, I’m not trying to say she is the cure for what ails us on this post. I am trying to make the case that her mode of operation must be adopted by others. This goes beyond dogma, and is more geared to an overall game plan.
We must become...
1. Get grounded.
2. Know the issues.
3. Know the talking points.
4. Know how to present them to the public (helps if you’re on fire).
5. Don’t be bashful, and drive these points home every chance you get.
6. For God’s sake, network!
Today our folks are not...
1. Well grounded.
2. Don’t know the issues.
3. Don’t know the talking points even if they do.
4. Don’t have the slightest idea how to present something they don’t know to others that don’t know, and desperately need to.
5. Don’t want to offend anyone, so won’t present truth to them even if our guy knows it.
6. Too interested in personal advancement to network with others - so we have three to five people popping off with different answers to the same problem.
So what would I urge Republicans to do. Rethink everything. If we were as organized as the Left, and pushing our solid principles with solid arguments, we’d destroy the Left.
Are we destroying the Left? No. The Left is too busy destroying themselves (and sadly, the rest of us in the process). Thank heaven too, because our bumbling boobs are the Keystone Cops of politics.
We don’t destroy the Left. More often than not, the Left goes too far and destroys it’s own credibility. How I long for a time when we capitalize on their transgressions long before those transgressions do serious damage to our nation.
Changing this is job one.
Folks, post 11 should have been address to ‘all’.
