Wisconsin, the Middle East of America?
Orange Punch, political blog of the Orange County Register ^ | 2-21-2011 | Mark Landsbaum

We see that those who support the beleaguered, underpaid, over-worked government employees (yeah, some folks think so) have drawn comparisons between the massive public union worker turnouts in Wisconsin to what’s going on in the Middle East.

Let’s compare...

Wisconsin, the Middle East of America?

Not sure. How far is Wisconsin from Dearborn, MI?

Let's see whether the union LEOs (ULEOS) start firing on the citizenry just like in Libya. Oh, wait. It's different. The ULEOs are demonstrating.

Only in America.

Maybe. But wait until someone organizes a march on Washington for jobs.

Seems more like Greece to me. Just try to take away their benefits. Can’t afford them? Tough. Have to fire 8,000 government workers to save their 100% paid retirement and health benefits? Too bad, so sad. I’ve always said it’s a very thin veneer that separates the well bred from the rabble. Scratch the surface and you’ll find the only difference is one does it behind closed doors — the other is in your face with a pitchfork and club in front of the nightly news.

Anyone who thinks he is "entitled" to a lifetime ticket on the gravy train wants to maintain the status quo. It's a very different picture when you have to buy the ticket for someone else and you and yours aren't allowed aboard.

What a bunch of nonsense the teachers here in Wisconsin are paid more then many of their counter parts in neighboring states like Minnesota. The people were hungry in the middle east I can assure you there are plenty of places here that provide food. There is no comparison and it is insulting that people try to drum one up. Wisconsin’s $10,791 per-pupil spending in its public schools was more than the $10,353 that neighboring Illinois spent; or the $10,048 that neighboring Minnesota spent; or the $9,520 that neighand Iowa spent.

A much more accurate comparison might be a Prison Riot.

The inmates think they are in charge, but it’s only temporary and built on a foundation of broken laws and riotous noise.

I believe the unions are now going to lose FAR MORE than they initially set out to protect.

When these misfits begin to sort through their large piles of regrets, they should pause, reflect and take the time to thank their leader, Obama.

Let the layoff’s begin......

Gosh, Lori. I wish you had not published the fact that Wisconsin pays their teachers over $700 more than teachers get in Minnesota. It’ll give our overpaid MN teachers ideas!!!!!

Some folks say greed is the culprit in all these wage issues, but they forget that other four-letter word/vice = ENVY!

Folks with a desire to succeed do not harbor envy. They make it happen.

lol sorry Gumdrop I was discussing the lies that are being told about the teachers pay here earlier with GopJ. I hear you about the Envy but it’s important for people to know they are not some kind of down trodden under paid slaves. One person was spreading around that the average teacher here is only paid in the mid $20’s and people were buying that it actually prompted a verbal argument in a group my daughter belongs to.

Maybe it was that moron with the "Fox Lies" sign that keeps jumping in to the live reports on Fox, only making himself look like an idiot. We know who the liars really are--dems like the doctor making false medical excuses, or whiny overpaid "professionals" who complain about their tough lives and unfair conditions. I work next to liars like that, whiners who retire out at 80K and don't care that someone else (without benefits) is footing the bill.

Here's my sign, in answer to the drum-beating losers in the WI statehouse, "Wisconsin teachers mug babies."

Can someone please explain to me why health care and retirement should have anything to do with one's employment status?
