I remember when I got a job in college running the school switchboard at night. The regular operator was real gem. She was smart as could be and an old fashioned Southern girl.
One of the first things she taught me about running the board and dealing with the public, was that a lot of people are just plain stupid.
I always remembered that and she was right. A good percentage of Americans are just plain stupid. These polls prove it.

The question doesn’t matter. It boils down to “Do You Like Sarah Palin”?
Liberals will not give her the benefit of the doubt under any circumstances. This only serves to give an indication of how many participants in this poll are so consumed with blind hatred that they cannot think straight. Scary that it is 35%.

The guy was a flaming liberal...and he was insane (I guess that’s redundant). So if ideology is responsible, then it’s leftist ideology that is responsible for the murders. Now if you ask me...the guy is insane, and he’s responsible for his own actions. But if the left insists that he’s innocent and it’s rhetoric that’s responsible, then it’s their own rhetoric that they need to blame.

Granted polls don't do nuance well, but that number should be 0 percent. My colleagues Steve Kornacki and Alex Pareene had a good exchange last week on whether inflammatory rhetoric on the right may have helped precipitate Jared Loughner's rampage. There's a real argument to be had. But there is simply no evidence that the Palin crosshairs map had anything to do with what Loughner did. From the link. So I give the author some credit. Even he admits those 35% are morons.

That’s why the Left lies. Because the lies work with some people.
