Please remember that man has to eat, sleep, brush his teeth, shave, bathe, change his clothes, have his coffee and watch the news. Additionally, he has to return calls, prepare work data, pay bills, go to the bank, go to the cleaners. Effectively, John is a bachelor. He's dedicated his life to his country.
His marriage??
But back to 3:30 PM on the 29th.
John walks the 10 minutes to the River Plaza Shopping Center. The Wilmington Trust Bank is right next door to the Walgreen's Pharmacy. He withdraws cash at the ATM. There is also a dry cleaners and he drops off some laundry. There is also a Deli and a Restaurant. He grabs a coffee and sandwich and makes a call to a cab company. The driver says he'll be there in 20 minutes but when he gets there...no John.
I BELIEVE THAT CABBIE LIED. He was the manager and a driver that day...He wanted that big, fat fare to Philly and the big fat tip that went with it. The cabbie had to get someone to come in so he could go himself. It was an hour before he got there. By that time, (6:00 PM) John had gone to the Pharmacy and asked for a ride (shift change) to Wilmington where he knew he could easily get a cab. The Pharmacist offered to call a cab and John walked out....he had just dealt with cab gig without success.....
John was now off his schedule but if he could get to Wilmington, he could grab a cab or train to Philly and still make his meeting on the 30th.
We're assuming it was a meeting in Philly. It may have been an invitation to a Army Football gathering. Except he said his briefcase was stolen. Maybe he uses it as a carry all???
It's only about 6 miles...He could walk it...but it was kinda cold....His original intention was NOT to walk...
So what are the options...Walk, bus, hitch, cab
We know he was robbed...But he also won the battle...and made it to Wilmington.
The time frame between the Pharmacy and Wilmington is only 40 minutes....so he didn't walk all the way...unless he runs track...
Oh, no....this is turning into an algebra problem.
