Obama Hits 8-Month High In Gallup Poll
National Journal ^ | Jan. 3, 2010 | Steven Shepard

Posted on 01/03/2011 11:07:38 AM PST by Redalways

As Pres. Obama returns from a Hawaiian vacation to a more Republican Washington Tuesday, his approval rating in the latest Gallup Daily tracking poll sits at its highest point in eight months.

Fully half of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing, while 42 percent disapprove. The last time Obama's approval stood at 50 percent was for the three-day, rolling sample conducted last May 29 to June 1, partially over Memorial Day weekend. His disapproval rating hasn't been lower than 42 percent since mid-May of 2010.

The jump in Obama's approval rating comes shortly after a lame-duck session of Congress that Obama hailed as "a season of progress" before departing on his Christmas vacation. But the White House is likely to find itself on the defensive quickly this week, as Republicans assume control of the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

Well, I have to say I’m happier with Obama than I ever have been (of course never liked him, didn’t vote for him): for the simple reason that the Bush tax cuts have been extended—and, even better, my husband and I will together save $4000 (the max) from the payroll tax “holiday” (which I hope will become a permanent reduction).

I know Obama was basically forced to do it, but at least he admitted the folly of raising taxes during a recession—my wealthy liberal friends who wanted their own taxes raised (go figure) are wailing and gnashing their teeth while I can honestly say I’m so, so happy that the Bush tax cuts were extended and am pleased that Obama signed the legislation.

Next: repeal Obamacare and I’ll be even happier.

“We are in an economic disaster...propping up of people with government handouts and such are keeping a portion of the population at least partially happy.”

Count on rich RHINOs and the Dem supporting banksters to keep their rich friends in money through their Congresscritters. Hope the tea party people can keep their giveaways in check. By the time the Tea Party and the RHINOS are through bumping heads the big Os numbers may go even higher.

The real demon here is the media.

The left wing media bacteria should be strung up by their yellow journalism thumbs, with their ballyhooing incessantly about how Obama has ‘come back”..they know if they repeat this vacuous lie enough in their glossy media channels, the nonthinking public sheep will adopt it.

This poll proves it.

They are the SCUM OF THE EARTH.

I have no greater contempt for any entity. The media in their mind numbing delirium, devoid of objectivity, full of “what’s lib, what’s hip” fashion, their selective ability to broadcast, tint and amplify what they choose—are destroying the country with their ubiquitous media lever.

These idiot, insipid journalism grads are slaves of naivete with a delusional thirst for celeb fame.

Pure CRAP. I suppose some of the ignorant were taken in with the MSM template that 0bummer rode in at the last second and got congress to pass a "tax cut" right before rates were to automatically go up (Bush's fault).

These are the same idiots who buy the story that Hussein gave us a "tax cut" when he jimmied the withholding tables, making it look like you got an extra $8.00/week in your paycheck. Of course since marginal rates remain the same you pay this $400.00 back at the end of the year. For the average schlub, however, it simply means a smaller refund. Viola the "Obama Tax Cut"

I agree. O got some lame duck meat for his base, Start and the repeal of DADT, and they are coming back to him. 2012 won’t be an easy year for conservatives. We have to keep our concentration on the core issues.

No, the lame-duck did NOT give Obama everything he wanted. Don't listen to that MSM lie.

Obama did NOT want to extend the Bush tax-cuts; he campaigned against it time and time again. The Dems' bloated budget did NOT get passed; the budget process therefore is now in the hands of the new Congress. His START treaty had major concessions. The only thing he really got was DADT which will have to be implemented over the course of years and challenged at every point. They were hoping to get cap and trade and that failed miserably.

Obama had to limp into the New Year despite what Chris Matthews says.

“And ironically that is about the percentage of people that don’t pay taxes.”

Funny how that works, isn’t it?

:)

He did cave on the tax cuts, which is the only good thing he has done in two years. The numbers will go back down when he tries to rahm through his next socialist program.

The RINO’s saved Obama with their total collapse in the lame duck, what a disaster.

His poll numbers always go up when he leaves the U.S. mainland. It’s when he gets back into the WH - they nosedive;)

Does that mean his approval rating goes up when he’s on vacation?...

Keep in mind, Obama and Reid were able to satisfy their base with DADT and START. They have a bump from liberals returning to the fold. So for the sake of Bambi's poll numbers, we destroyed the military and reduced our threat deterrent capability! Thanks Mitch baby!!

I’m glad I saw and experienced this country when I did, no one can take that away from me. The media, has colluded with the establishment to destroy us in a frenzy of chickification and PC-ness. It’s gone.

***Its a temporary bump... Obama will never get over 50% again in any poll.***

It’s high only because the Republicans are starting to make inroads and Zero is taking credit for it.

I desperately hope that by 2012 the Republicans will have gotten the word out to the masses about any improvement in our government is due to them.

Yep. The Tea Party movement is really just in it’s infancy. We have to continue to hold our own side’s feet to the fire and challenge the opposition in both parties. We also have to look at how to expand our numbers. There are more people out there looking for an alternative ,and it is up to the people to bring them in to the fold. No 30 second tv spot or campaign speech is going to convert those people into constitutional conservatives.
