I do not know Jim Rob nor his vision for FR. There seems to be much debate on FR about a whole host of issues. I never got the idea that any subject was off limits until I read this specific post. It seems to contradict the name, Free Republic. Free speech, even of horrible positions, is the life blood of a free republic. As I said, FR is free to decide whatever and whomever are on its board. I find homosexuality and abortion to be immoral, and I do not support those that advocate them. On the other hand, I am an avid supporter of free speech.

If I may explain...
There is a line between supporting our Constitutional Rights to free speech and allowing liberals to abuse those rights in a private forum.
Do you allow homo’s the use of your home to spread their evil agenda?
Would you allow the Westboro Baptist Church to picket at your loved one’s funeral?
Sodomy is a moral and societal evil. How is that open for debate? Why would you argue their right to spread that agenda here in a conservative site?
You are jumping up and down on Jim’s zot button. How that has not gone off on you by now is beyond me.

I'm also an avid supporter of free speech, meaning that the government has no right and no power to censor our speech. However, JimRob is not the government; he is our host. This site is his property and in a sense his home. I have tossed people out of my home for what they said, usually permanently (if what you said once is not acceptable, then you are not acceptable in my home) and twice physically. That right is part of freedom too - in what used to be a free republic and will remain so if we stand up for our rights.
If you don’t like FR take a freaking hike!

This sounds like a typical leftist saying, "I'm personally opposed to [abortion, homosexuality, etc.], but I don't think I have the right to impose my values on others."
The problem with what you said is hat while that philosophy works in a free society, we have a much smaller community with a definite focus here online on this forum, and thus we need some direction to the discussions.
Anyways, on a news and commentary web site such as this one, once everything has been said... Well, there is nothing more to say.
At that time best to just drop it.
Every web site forum seems to have people that post nothing much useful, just start and/or continue arguments. Some forums have more than others, and this site, FreeRepublic - is a big target. Sooner or later you have to quash them or they will always be trying to cause disruption and/or will drown you in their vast volume of inflammatory or silly postings.
Free speech is great, but here Jim Robinson is the one paying for it. So out of respect for him we have to follow his rules.
