NACOGDOCHES — Mario Perez, a mathematics and statistics major at Stephen F. Austin State University, sent out a mass text message to all of his fraternity brothers after being stopped by a police officer for rolling through a stop sign near campus.
"Hey Bruhs," the 22-year-old typed with his thumbs as the red-and-and blue lights of a police car whirled behind him on a spring night. "I just got pulled over."
If Perez were any other member of Alpha Phi Alpha, a predominantly African-American fraternity with the highest cumulative GPA on campus, the traffic stop and text message wouldn't have been cause for alarm.
But Perez's fraternity brothers knew his secret, the one he hadn't even shared with his girlfriend of four years, a nursing student at SFA whom he'd proposed to on bended knee. Perez, a gregarious student leader and talented tuba player who scored 1640 on his SATs, is an illegal immigrant.
After the officer told Perez he had two unpaid traffic tickets and asked him to step out of the car that night on April 12, his world started to collapse. Perez was transferred from the local jail to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Houston and put into deportation proceedings..........

Why do these people have to come here and camp out in our cities and towns, take our jobs, take our spots in universities ...why can’t they do and have all these things in their own country? Why, if they are SOOOOO smart and talented, can’t they make things great in their own homeland?

We need to deport or imprison ALL illegal aliens, including their anchor babies, seal/secure the border with a wall and fence, and have a lethal response to anyone who tries to re-enter illegally.

The one thing that baffles me about these stories about the illegal status students is that they don’t point out the obvious. Honey, after you get your degree, who the hell can hire you?
If I am a law-abiding employer, and I am, I will kick your ass to the curb as soon as I find out, probably during the background check when your SS# doesn’t match your name and you can’t explain why. And I won’t be thanking you for wasting my time.
Unfortunately, people who must get by with deception do not make good employees.

Having once been a long time ‘drinking driver’ and yes, many times very much impaired, one learns that you check all bulbs, tires, have plenty of gas etc etc as you don’t want your ‘trip’ delayed with a flat or run out of gas, as all you are doing is drawing attention (suspicion) to yourself especially when you do such stupid things as not signal, excessive speed, failure to take care of paper work etc.
I still find myself, when pulling into say, a 7/11, turning on my headlights to check them in the glass, and every so often, back in and do same, and always checking turn signals etc.
I no longer drink (1991, cold turkey) but still do the ‘self safety checks’ as a matter of old habit and common sense.
Before I get flamed, YES, I KNOW I WAS WRONG but the gist of the message is
“IF you are going to be engaged in wrongful activities, do your best to eliminate obvious problems.”

How did this person get a Drivers License in the first place? Looks like it's time for the Investigative Reporters to start Investigating. BTW - Who is paying the College Tuition for this Illegal? Is he working a job to pay it, which would be Illegal as well, or is he getting Scholarship money that should be going to an American Citizen?
