(CNN) - Members of the Westboro Baptist Church announced Thursday plans to picket Saturday's funeral for Elizabeth Edwards in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Kansas-based Church - monitored by anti-hate groups such as the Anti-Defamation league and the Southern Poverty Law Center - is known for its extremist opposition to homosexuals, Jews and other groups.
The church members also oppose the War in Iraq.
According to the church's website, members will hold a protest from 12:15 p.m. to 1 p.m.

That should be interesting.
That said, this guy has it right on. Political views aside, the family does not deserve this. Those kids lost their mother and need to have time to grieve and mourn without interruption or someone making a spectacle of it.

It's almost as if they're doing this all of this as a sadistic goof or parody. It's almost like a form of guerrilla street theater, an "artform" favored by crazy leftists, including the Westboro cult.
Be that as it may, it's pretty twisted and sick, whether the motive is religious or not. It'd really almost be worse if it were some kind of street theater. Almost every reasoning person can see that this is not representative of Christianity so if they're doing it for that reason, it falls somewhat flat. It's not going to hurt the right as much as they think.
But for satire??? It's beyond sick.

On the other hand, you have to wonder where these 1000 people were when they were protesting soldier’s funerals.
It’s almost as if the left is coming out because Elisabeth is their hero, but don’t really care if this group pickets soldiers, because why would the left care about soldiers?

Maybe all this hoopla (suffering) is necessary to guide Elizabeth’s soul away from the devil, and up toward heaven. And putting her relatives at ill ease, IMO, might help bring them closer to Christ as well.
I still am interested who is funding them. Someone has to be giving them money to travel all over the country terrorizing funerals.

The Westboro Cult in my opinion is a leftist organization where their intentions is to make Christians look like "hate mongers". The picture of them with algore and tipper should say it all.
I have been to many different Christian denominations from Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Non-Denominational, ect... NONE have preached anything close to the Phelps Lawyer Guild. IMO they are leftists who want to make Christians look like lunatics.

It’s intentional, it’s deliberate, and they’re part of a larger coordinated effort to demonize and denigrate the Christians in this country. First thing you hear about them in the media is that they’re a Christian group.
