If the GOP runs Newt Gingrich in 2012 on Juan McCain's 2008 amnesty platform, they can get used to dealing with Obama for another 4 years. I'm not going to vote for another Bush or McCain under any circumstances.

‘There has to be some zone between deportation and amnesty.”

NO THERE DOESN’T!

We deported huge numbers during the depression and in the late 50’s.

Taking my cue from the Obama campaign:

Yes, we can!

We don’t HAVE to deport them. Don’t give them jobs, free housing, college, food, medical care, allow their kids to be instant citizens, etc., etc. and they’ll deport themselves.

"Newt Gingrich: 'We are not going to deport 11 million people'"

Why not? Eisenhower took care of the illegals for a time by using the Army. Fear of being rounded up eventually took over and the Army's job became much easier. Of course, no president we've had in the past 20 years has had the intestinal fortitude to do it, certainly not the usurper we have now.

Translation:

“zone between deportation and amnesty” = amnesty
“common sense” = amnesty
“an entirely legal work force” = amnesty

Wasn’t it about 11 million as far back as 2000 ? The numbers are always either 11 or 12 million and I never see gov provide higher numbers, they seem stuck on 11 or 12 million, by now we should be up towards 20-30 million or more.

"There has to be some zone between deportation and amnesty."

No, there isn't. The law calls for them to be arrested and deported. If they're not arrested and deported, that's amnesty, because they're getting no punishment for breaking the law.

These politicians must think we're all stupid. I remember Bush wanting to let illegals stay, but claiming it "wasn't amnesty" because they weren't getting automatic citizenship! Most illegals don't even WANT citizenship! It's like saying, "The burglar who broke into your house last night is going to get to stay. But it's okay! It's not amnesty or anything, because he's not going to get your master bedroom, just the smaller bedroom."

>>Newt Gingrich: “We are not going to deport 11 million people”<<

Hey Newt. I got an idea: Let’s start deporting and when we get to a point where we just can’t do it any more, let’s stop.

They don’t even need to do the deportation...they just need to pass legislation that they are going to deport them and they will leave immediately...just like in AZ, etc...

That should be step 1. Let people come in through the front door and follow the legal steps to immigration.

This is incredible. I have lost so much respect for Gingrich...he is just another sleazy politician bent on screwing the hard working American people. Total disgrace.

This is a serious problem.

I don’t WANT to grant amnesty to illegals. Its unfair to those who came here legally. It encourages further illegals and it increasing the Democrat Voting Base. He must be having beers with Bush II and Juan McAmnesty.

But the large number of illegals allowed in by Bush II and Obama makes the problem of dealing with them an issue.

There are many aspects of Gingrich which are defective and I think he’s the wrong candidate - not just for this, but because he is another TIRED old face when the party needs a new one.

But a compromise on amnesty probably may become inevitable.

Our best hope is to SEE TO IT that there is NO amensty unless the borders are secured FIRST and STRONG EMASURES taken to put out of business those corporations who knowlingly hire illegals, punish those charities and churches which provide them with sanctuary, and take strong punative measures against all “Sanctuary Cities”.
