Two uranium mines in Wyoming are on their way to control by a Russian company now that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved transferring the mines' licenses
The commission last week approved the license transfer involving a Russian company, JSC Atomoredzoloto, or ARMZ, which expects to obtain a controlling interest in Canadian-owned Uranium One by year's end. Uranium One holds the licenses for a proposed in-situ uranium mine and an existing in-situ uranium mine in northeast Wyoming.

But, you believe we should give up our natural resources -- even radioactive raw materials -- to foreign powers which may seem to you, not to be an enemy at the moment?
The problem the US and Russia have is how to dispose of vast stockpiles of unneeded weapons grade materials.
Raw uranium out of a mine or even slightly enriched uranium for power reactor applications are not proliferation threats.
The simple problem is US competitiveness. What are we doing, not mining enriching and using our own uranium for our own power applications and to supply other countries who have the proper safeguards?
This is not a security issue. It is an economics issue.
We are too dumb (americans in general, liberals specifically) to realize that nuclear power is a great way to reduce our foreign energy dependance.
We should be harnessing the power of the atom instead of cowering in fear from it under our desks like children of the 1950’s during a duck and cover drill.

About the uranium mining-—apart from who controls this operation - Following your logic, the US should keep out of its own intrusions everywhere outside its borders.

Using the bad actions of one president to excuse the actions of another isn’t really a good argument. It’s sorta like when you got in trouble when you were a kid and told your mom, “But he was doing it too!” The argument didn’t work on mom, either.
