Notice that the “Enhanced Pat Down” is only utilized where the Naked Body Scan is rolled out. People naturally object to the Naked Body Scan, so the TSA is starting with the new Grope and Feel standard in order to make the Naked Body Scan the less offensive option.
So we can conclude that the “Enhanced Pat Down” does not serve a legitimate security function, but is just a way to herd people into the Naked Body Scan line. Otherwise, the TSA would be employing the Enhanced Pat Down procedure at all airports, even if the Naked Body Scan is not available there.
This is petty coersion, plain and simple.
