I have come to believe that Libertarians are worthless. Before them, a crop of wonderful, small government candidates sit and will likely winscores of points of optimism in a political sky that has been bleak and black. To coin a word from the opposition, theres Hope.
Now, most of us watching this election realize that the exhausting work over the last two years has hardly begun. Once this new crop become part of the system, theyll have to be watched and held accountable.
The most optimistic change, then, hasnt really been these candidates. Its been the heart of the American people. Citizens have decided that theyve sat on their duffs long enough. Its time to get involved. Its time to stay involved.
The candidates arent perfect. No politicians are perfect. Hells bells. Theyre human and mere vessels for the expression of the voters will.
So, I read Doug Mataconis piece about why Libertarians are still disenchanted even with the best electoral hope in a generation presents itself. I feel absolute disgust.
Kvetching about the social issues of a Christine ODonnell while ignoring the economic liberties that Mike Castle would have assuredly stripped had he had his way makes no sense. How on earth can a true Libertarian even worry about such irrelevance?

Throw a rock over a fence and the dog that yelps is the one that got hit.
I mentioned neither you nor your wife. I didn’t ask about either you or your wife. The post wasn’t even addressed to you.
You responded to a post that was no directed to you.
Why?
Why do you keep replying to me? Same reason.
Actually I would. Only someone completely ignorant of the Constitution and the principles of Federealism would even ask such a stupid question.
No. I replied to this post and 435 for the same reason. You posted to me.
You’re the one who volunteered the personal information. Nobody asked for it.
You made a blanket statement about libertarians. I’m proof against it.
Gays serve in the military. They always have. As long as they don't flaunt it, and it doesn't become an issue within the Command, why should anyone else care?
As for violently ill people in the military, I must have missed all those gay guys running around beating their wives, starting bar fights, and all the other crap I had to deal with when I was an NCO.
If anything, anyone exhibiting such violent tendencies needs a ticket to the front lines. Let them expend their anger on the Enemy.
The big problem with your second point is that the Constitution does not grant anyone anything by way of rights. Rights come from God, not from man.
This is basic Locke Second Treatise stuff, man.

That was my point...
No rational basis there...
The Creator premises authentic freedom... This I asserted to be a second area of conflict -the unalienable laws/knowledge/wisdom from the Creator; what He endowed humanity with seems to be an area that on the one hand moral Conservatives fully acknowledge essential while on the other hand Libertarians deem in certain circumstances irrelevant with the primary argument being one of irrational belief that has no basis or evidence backing it up...
Hmmm... How on the one hand can one cite God as premise for one thing and on the other hand declare God irrelevant in another and by doing so by default placing man above God and in essence subjecting ones freedom to the assent of another man? That is one problem I see with the Libertarian position -a fatal flaw...
I would say you proved my implied point with your long quotation.
I would suggest everything as far freedom we hold dear and the founding of our country itself is premised upon one thing --God. NO middle men with rational arguments top that premise because IF they could then Liberty would be cut off from its very foundation and like Libertarians be but an idea without foundation blowing like a moral relative leaf in the wind...

Anecdotal "evidence" offered by an anonymous poster is "proof"? Isn't proof verifiable?
If you want to offer yourself as "proof" I would expect you to also offer your name, address and phone number. References would also be necessary, I suppose.
I'd trust Jim with my personal info, but very few else here. If you really want to go down that road, I would be amenable to providing Jim with my Facebook and Linked in account info, as well as my mailing address and a copy of my DD-214, to verify who I am and that what I say is true.
Here's the Church we were married in. Pastor Fragodt performed the service in their former Church building before the new one was built. We no longer attend services there because of their continued insistence of following the ELCA on their stance on gay pastors.
You offered yourself as proof of your argument. No one demanded it, to my knowledge.
This is a forum. People express their opinions. I don’t recall anyone other than you claiming that their life was “proof” of their opinion. If you’d like to involve Jim further in your arguments, feel free.
No one demanded it, to my knowledge.
You just did.
If someone, on a thread, makes an easily refutable statement... why shouldn't I jump in and point out their error? Isn't that what a FORUM is? A group discussion?
If you want a PRIVATE discussion amongst your little chat circle, might I suggest a Yahoo Group. You can screen members and email each other directly without involving anyone else who comes along.
You’re behaving now like a spoiled child. You made the offer, now put up or shut up.
Typical.
See post #456.
Any other childish games you want to play?
Anecdotal “evidence” is proof of nothing. So you married in a church. That doesn’t mean that you are proof all libertarians do or have done so.
