IL Ballots. St. Clair County Clerk said that he could not mail the ballots, huh.

St. Clair County Clerk Bob Delaney said that he could not mail the ballots due to questions on whether two Constitutional Party members would be allowed on the ballot:

http://www.pantagraph.com/news/state-and-regional/illinois/article_640ff69c-d727-11df-80af-001cc4c002e0.html

St. Clair County Clerk Bob Delaney said 1,297 overseas military ballots — many of them connected with Scott Air Force Base — didn’t get sent out until Oct. 4, primarily because he was waiting for a decision on whether the Constitution Party would be allowed on the ballot.

After a little research I found an article from July 1st 2010 that states:

http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=205469

Two people who filed petitions to run as members of the Constitution Party in St. Clair County were removed from the ballot Thursday.

And

County Clerk Bob Delaney said he had never seen the type of incompetence exhibited on petitions in his 14 years on the election board. "I respect anybody's right to run.. but why don't you follow the same rules that I have to as a Democratic candidate.. there are rules you have to follow and these people did not follow the rules," he said.

From his own words he felt back in July that there was no possible way that they were going to make it on the ballot, they had been removed, with no hope of being placed back on by his own words!

So with 3 months before the October deadline he somehow went from absolute certainty to questions on their validity - really?

To be fair there is a hint in the article about filing an appeal, but no where could I find any further mention of the candidate filing an appeal nor even a hint that he said anything further on the matter at all.

So again, why was there any question in his mind?

...the Dems simply don’t want the military vote...it’s way too conservative for them.

So there’s no dispute that it was intentional, leaving only the issue of his motives unresolved.

I noticed that the article failed to mention whether Messieur Delaney was a Repubican or a Demo-rat. Anyone want to place a wager?

You’re right typical RAT conduct.

Dem’s never figure out that their excuses ring hollow to conservatives. They think the excuse should suffice, whether it’s ‘true’ or not.

If there was any real concern for our service members, they’d have made damned sure this would never happen on their watch - and never take an excuse as an answer.

Failure to plan is not an acceptable excuse.

Whether or not this is an attempt at sabotage of the vote, you’d think that honest men and women would want to be above suspicion.

Heads need to roll.

Oh, I guess that quote was from Messier Delaney-he’s a Rat? The antecedent’s not clear—he ran as a Demo-rat candidate for county clerk? Election board? In any case, I guess the article did identify him as a Rat.

...yep, and I figure it will only get worse....the Dems have a nation wide campaign to win state offices of Secretary of State...that’s the state authority that controls elections.

Inept: PJM Readers Knew Illinois Failed Military Voters, but DOJ Didn’t

Excerpt:

Bob Delaney, the St. Clair County clerk, outright refused to mail nearly 1,500 military ballots until October. He had hoped to include a GOP-spoiling Constitution Party candidate to the ballot. The spoiler never had a chance of getting in the race, and the ballots never mailed to military voters. Whether DOJ will act against such nakedly partisan motives remains to be seen.

Yeah, but he’s not a candidate. He’s the clerk in charge of putting candidates on the ballot. I suppose he meant “back when I was a candidate?” Obscure but clear enough, I suppose.

Democrats can get ballots in the hands of dead people, but not military members

I lived in Belleville —St Clair County —for a number of years.

Folks OPENLY brag about how corrupt the Democrat Party is this Southern Illinois county.

To put it in perspective, Only Cook County—Obama’s county-—has more lawyers than St Clair County and we all know what party these folks belong.
