There Will Be War
Forbes on line ^ | 08/11/10 | Reza Kahlili

Last week, Iran's opposition leaders Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karoubi canceled anti-government demonstrations timed to commemorate the anniversary of last year's disputed presidential election. Secretary of the State Hillary Clinton called the cancellation "regrettable," but missed the larger point. The reform these two men offer is not what the majority of Iranians want: They want an end to the current Islamic regime.

One year ago, the Obama administration missed an opportunity to support Iran's uprising. They mistakenly calculated that back-door negotiations with Iran's clerics and promises made by its rulers would bring cooperation on the nuclear issue. The Americans were duped and now find themselves grasping for another chance to support an Iranian uprising.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration has ordered a massive buildup of U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf starting with Carrier Strike Group 10, headed by the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. Just last Friday an armada of more than 12 U.S. and Israeli warships passed through the Suez canal amid extreme security provided by Egypt. The ships are headed for the Red Sea and from there to the Persian Gulf. Another four U.S. warships will be making their way to the region to join the Strike Group. The Americans have also conducted joint air and naval strike practices with France and the U.K. under the command of American forces, while Germany is sending warships to the area, also under the command of American forces.

How do you bomb a country that is already in the stone age into the stone age? ............................... Sorry, having Iranian friends I can’t go along with that. You would be surprised how many Iranians are like us. yeah, they are stuck with a theocracy, but many if not most aren’t fanatical religious zealots. Its what happens when you give religious zealots power, they want full control.

Iranians are not stone age people, they are cultured, and yes you will also find porcelain toilets in their homes like you have in yours. The people I know that are from Iran would love to see the ruling Mullahs hanging from the lamp posts that line the main Tehran Boulevard. The ruling SOB’s that are the main problem will see Iran destroyed but will also see to it that they and their families have an escape route, probably back to Saudi Arabia from where the B%$#^&@s came.

Remember though that the Saudi’s are Obama’s benefactors and from all appearances the Saudi’s want the current Iranian regime gone. I don’t think Obama has the spine to do it and I shudder to think how many of our soldiers he would get killed with his ridiculous ROE’s. Obama is the wrong leader to take this country to a war as important as this one will be. He will screw it up royally (probably on purpose). He hates our country and everything it stands for.

Maybe Obummer is counting on a war, and counting on Israel to be invloved, to get the American people to rally around the Commander in Chief right before the mid terms. I’s been done before.

The American version:
The reform Obama offers is not what the majority of Americans want: They want an end to the current Socialist regime.

So you see, ladies and gentlemen, people yearn to be free in the most unexpected places..................

I believe war in the mid east is inevitable, but we have the wrong leader as commander in chief at this point in history. (My emphasis)

Not if the intent is our defeat.................

LOL. You really think Obama is his own man? Come now. He will do as he is told by his ultra-rich elite puppet masters who control the military industrial complex and most of the world’s wealth. We must learn to see past the GOP/Rat chess game and focus on who owns the chess board & chess pieces.

I wish. Iran is about to run roughshod over the ME in the next 5-7 years. If only we’d acted sooner against their nuke program - like five years ago.

There will only be war involving the US if Obama determines it is in his domestic political benefit.

I don't think he cares about his domestic poll numbers. He only cares about his ideology and bombing Iran does nothing to harm Israel, only helps.

I agree that it’s highly unlikely that Obama would attack or even fight against any Islamic country.

I think, judging from the things that he’s said and his actions, that he is putting this in place basically to prevent Israel from striking Iran or any other Muslim country.

Attacks on Israel have been more frequent because the Muslims are emboldened by Obama’s obvious sympathy with their side. At some point, the Israeli’s are going to have to fight back, and I think you’re going to see our forces basically being put in the position of defending the Muslims, from whatever country they may be.
