Thank you Kathy. I had the honor of getting to see the Hunley not long after it was brought up from the ocean. The remains of the crew were still inside. They had found the gold coin not long before we were there. That was very exciting!

WOW! How exciting that must have been. I was thinking about the men inside, cranking away.

Yes, until you actually see the submarine, you cannot grasp how cramped that their quarters were and how hot it must have been inside.
It is amazing how well preserved the Hunley is after being at the ocean bottom for so long. I would love to go back and see it again when they finally put it on public exhibition!
