Six Months of Scott Brown
The American Spectator ^ | July 20, 2010 | Aaron Goldstein

Six months have passed since Scott Brown shook the world with his upset victory over Martha Coakley in the Massachusetts special election to fill the people's seat once held by Ted Kennedy.

Brown was elected to the United States Senate in no small part due to the energy and enthusiasm of Tea Party activists. In the intervening 180 days, the euphoria of sending a Republican Senator from Massachusetts to Capitol Hill has waned amongst Tea Party enthusiasts.

Some thought the election of Brown would spell the death knell of Obamacare. As the 41st Republican senator, he put Republicans in a position to filibuster. But along came reconciliation and Brown's presence ultimately proved to be a non-factor.

Just what do you plan to do about that??

The "We" I used is inclusive. Writing from Wisconsin, I have little influence over Scotty. However, those in MA have more direct influence. Everyone working together would have a lot of influence. At this point, about all I can do is to write letters. What are you going to do? Are you going to do anymore than try to undermine everybody else's efforts?

You need to point that thing towards the left... you have no idea of what we do and have done... will give... and have given... and to whom.

>>> I’m no fan of RINOs but from some states, that is all we’ll get. Just as the Dems have to deal with the fact that the only Dem they will get from certain states are Blue Dogs. If Brown is good for nothing else, he’s useful to ensure a vote in case we win a majority in the Senate, allowing us to control committees

Common sense and logic in a “rivers of blood” breast-beating thread? Gee you’re no fun.

>>> Brown has condemned himself to one term.

Political analysis may not really be your forte.

“”US Senator Scott Brown, who only months ago was a little-known figure even within the tiny band of Republicans in the state Senate, not only catapulted to national stature with his upset US Senate victory, but is today the most popular officeholder in Massachusetts, according to a Boston Globe poll.

After less than five months in Washington, Brown outpolls such Democratic stalwarts as President Obama and US Senator John F. Kerry in popularity, the poll indicates. He gets high marks not only from Republicans, but even a plurality of Democrats views him favorably.””

In other words, he is serving the voters in his state as they want to be served. So take what we can get from the man when circumstances allow him to give it. Or let the dems win and get nothing ever.

Of course not that that’s a substitute for civil war 2 porn.

Yah, good to remind us that Brown replaced Ted Kennedy. Compare the two and it’s a victory.

It's better to have a fake Conservative than a full fledged liberal?

You are absolutely, 100% correct. We can no longer put our hopes and trust in politicians to do what is right. Just look how Collins and Snowe allowed the unemployment extension to pass. Make no mistake, though, if they wouldn’t have voted for it two other Republicans would have come forward in support. As Rush was saying yesterday, they are ALL members of the “ruling class” and we are but peons...

“And for the well off, forget the $1,000 and try $10,000 or $100,000”

I prefer to put $1,000/month into guns and ammo.

Throwing money at the problem is a typical liberal solution. Sure, money is necessary, but you need a strong candidate with a message. If McCain spent the exact same amount as the chosen one, he still would have lost because he was a terrible candidate with no message.

“He is somebody... Ted Kennedy Jr.”

Not even close and Martha Coakley is to the left of Ted Kennedy.

Look, for the first time in my adult life I actually have a senator that is somewhat useful. Someone that I can talk to and ask for help.

Gotta disagree, hopefully, my friend...The House will be much more conservative, ideologically...as well as being under GOP control, and the Senate, well, C-span 2 will be MUST SEE TV..look who’se hopefully coming, Angel, Paul, Toomey, Rubio, and several others to join DeMint, Coburn, et al..The GOP caucus, aside from growing by 20%..will be much more conservative....

Brown is only “useful” to the DNC and to two corrupt banks.

Scott Brown, American lying traitor, is AGAINST everyone
who voted for the chameleon ba$tard.

Folks like Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, Lindsay Graham, John McCain, Lincoln Chaffee and now Scott Brown give us hope that we have the numbers to defeat liberal agendas. When the rubber meets the road they become one of them. I’m not sure how this is better. Just sayin...

I not happy about some of his votes but the alternative was much worse. You aren’t from here so you can’t understand.

If you know and saw Martha Coakley in action then you would know how much better it was.

You had me worried for a sec. LOL

But...do you guys know how we got HERE? We got here because the ballerina Rahm Emanuel hatched a plan, in 2006 to TRICK the voters. He convinced the Dems to run conservative Dems to run in Red districts in order to capitalize on GWB and Republican malaise.

And it worked. Once he got them past the electorate, he was able to control them, via money and help from the DNC. This is why Pelosi was able to pick and choose which people she could release to vote for contentious legislation. That is why her “victories” have been only by a hair and why those whose votes she needed are in such hot water.

Those who want to pummel Scott Brown do so at their peril. Perhaps they need to conduct a “hearts and minds tour” in order to change the electorate he represents. Because until then, this is all we’re going to get from him. Get used to it. There must me something in the water there, I guess.

But I will take a Scott Brown, who is a nominal conservative, over a flaming, neon, radioactive liberal like Coakley.....every time.

He helps us control committees and gives us SUBPOENA POWER.

I sent money in for his campaign but he’s become a rather large disappointment at least to many of us outside of Mass.

You can cry blasphemy to the end of time and I truly don’t give a flying anymore but exactly what has Rush done to help you except make himself a very wealthy man, that being the only part I really don’t care about, capitalism and all. He sat in the “Attila the Hun” chair for 20 years and in those 20 years he did nothing to motivate the base. Oh, yeah, you could nod your head in agreement with his pearls of wisdom. It took a financial reporter to ignite the spark of growing discontent while Rush advised to keep your heads down and keep working while leading the “Conservatives don’t do those things” mantra.
Glenn Beck, for all his annoying affectations at least organized fora and gatherings for people to meet. Oh, I’m forgetting Dan’s bake sale.
To end this segment, every once in a while Rush would tell the story of what the Founding Fathers sacrificed; their property, their families, their lives. What great men they were were. He brags about the money he would lose as a member of Congress or Senate or dog-catcher.
I could spit nails ...

Scott Brown will be one of many RINO’s who have only themselves to thank when the Revolution comes.

Geez! I merely mention his name and get this response. I would hate to see what you would have written if I had said more. I do think you are so blinded by hate and class envy that you have lost any ability to think rationally on the subject.
