Sounds like they’re down to their Hitler Youth?

A famous haunting picture taken during Hitler's last days - shows what was left of the German army at that point. Hitler is giving medals to some of the remaining "soldiers" defending Berlin. Such a sad picture:

I've seen that before. Like others, I understand the stupidity of putting the nation's future and defense in the hands of males as young as that.

There were cases where a group of youths would fire at the enemy, but they didn't understand the concept of fire and maneuver. Many of them were caught because they simply stayed where they were.

When i was very young i was a collector of military items and not all the history that surrounded them. I and a friend visited some twin girls that were very cute. Being cool i put on my new acquisition which was the same cap shown in your picture. ( always wondered why it would be so small, i was like 13yr and it was tight.
Only later did I realize these were the small sizes for children of volkswher and why these were found in storage.
One sister, recognizing, snatched it off my head and was madly trying to flush it down the toilet.
I didn’t know they were Jewish.
