Very interesting.
(Excerpt) Read more at bp.com ...
Dropped the socket wrench!
Been there! Done that!
Well, not 5000 feet down, but hey...
The CNN video from an earlier post said they might try to start sucking/pumping from the top kill procedure where they will attach new hoses and pipes to all the pipes on the BOP and relieve a lot of oil pressure from there.
Yeah Rex has a spasm! They are wouking on something laying on the bottom.
Did he drop it? Damn, I missed it.
I was wondering if he had the right size...
He couldn’t seem to get the wrench to seat on the nut.
I have no idea what is going on.
Looks like this is some horizontal section of the riser pipe.
Which is why I speculated they were testing the tool or testing their capability.
Other activity includes some new kind of yellow box arriving on the scene.
Trying a different tool, now.

Now they are working with a different tool. Another socket driver.
Definitely a rat shit wrench.
You know, everyone hopes for success. Me too.
But success or failure stopping the leak, I think no matter what, this has to be labeled in some sense a success.
Kind of like the very first space walk or something. To perform some very delicate operations by machine in an environment that is just about as inhospitable as it can get..., face it this is tremendous experience and I hope they are completely documenting it all.
Both Viking ROVs are involved in this ROV 2 has a face on shot of Fumbles and Rex.
Somebody needs to draw some hair on it.
Looks like fumbles is playing with a Dewalt Drill.
Must be frustrating as heck trying to guide those arms and the tool!!!
We should note fumbles gets the yellow drill
These aren’t the flange bolts are they?
“These arent the flange bolts are they?”
-
They are similar ones, but not “THE” ones.
Does anyone know if there is a gasket between those flanges,
or is it just metal to metal?
I would never have enough patience
to have the job of those robot operators.
God bless ‘em.
There’s an ongoing plan to use the kill and choke lines as additional taps on the oil stream. Perhaps this is related to that.
Just don’t know.
Earlier views showed a new yellow box arriving on the scene
and a lot of activity going on.
Seems to be relatively quiet now.
