Hey there, I didn;t mean any harm, just expressing something I thought was amusing regarding conspiracy theories on BP. Sorry for offending you, or maybe you werent offend and I just misunderstood what the pictures meant.

Let me explain: I'm stunned, STUNNED, that some alarmist scientist who lives on government money thinks that the government is more qualified to fix an oil well problem than the people who work on oil wells every single day of every single year. Everyone is panicing about long term environmental damage, so blowing it up with a nuclear weapon seems the perfect solution.

/sarc

Hey Dr Stephen A Rinehart, in case you weren't aware nuclear weapons are not easy to make. That's why they cost millions and most countries don't have one. Do you think we just keep one lying around that will survive the trip down 12000 feet in sea water and still operate? Not to mention shoving into a well that has over 6000 pounds of pressure in it? And on top of that it can only be, what, 16 inches wide to fit in the hole?

Does not seem like there is much changed this morning.
Maybe a little bit more ‘fin’ showing, but hard to tell.

Lot’s of interest in a section of riser pipe.

Maybe I’m nuts,
but it looks like practice at unbolting a flange.

Maybe they are trying to make improvements on the sealing and the vents and they need to monitor the situation more carefully. I mean, the more they push towards their goals of getting nearly all the oil the more pressure is placed on pipes that may not be able to handle all the oil shooting up from it. And as has been noted but ignored by a lot of people, they probably need to watch very carefully for crystal formation once the majority of vents are closed. So I suspect they are trying to take thigs a step further and are monitoring more the precarious situation.

I thought thatr had way too big a risk of ruining the whole system, like knocking over the bop or bending the riser pipes and rendering them useless. Either the government is rushing them so much and threatning takeover so they are now just taking shots in the dark, they’sve concluded the pressure is now low enough that unbolting them doesn’t risk destroying the system or they are doign soemthing else. Praying again that it’s one of the latter two.

From the very beginning I thought that was the best bet.
If they had the top section removed off the flange, that would give them just about the cleanest, straightest approach they would ever get!
You could fabricate a two-piece hinged section with open valves on top that you would simply close over the flange and bolt down. Just leave all the valves open, close them one at a time and attach collection pipes to it.

Keep the weight down - do it right and you would have almost the perfect seal.

Looks like Fumbles and Rex (Viking 1) are back and playing with some kind of tool.

It looked an awful lot like a ratchet wrench.

That is it! They have it positioned on a bolt.

I just worry that right now is not the best time to do it; they are still working on maximizing the capture they get from their current cap. Unbloting the flanges, especially when it comes to unbloting the last 2, creates yet another entire set of ways the system can cave in on itself. They were just now starting make what even the msm had to admit was really progress, grasping at shadows of getting it all immediately like that does not seem prudent here, especially since they could completely lose the substance, in this case, having increased flow with none being captured.

They are not working on the BOP flange below the cap. This is something else.

Ok good, as I was going to say, I’m notliking them going from one plan to a totally different one so fast as they have done before. Glad to know they are not bouncing around from one plan to another like a pinball, at least for now.

Let the tool rest/stop against the pipe.
