SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- A South Korean couple were convicted Friday of abandoning their newborn daughter, who starved to death while they addictively played an online game raising a virtual child.

The husband, a 41-year-old taxi driver, and his 25-year-old wife were sentenced to two years in prison, but the woman's term was suspended because she is pregnant.

Bring them to the USA and put them on welfare, free housing and Gov’t cheese.

Sounds like just the sort of people the USA seems to be looking for these days. They will feel right at home in Cleveland, Detroit, LA or Buffalo.

Really pregnant of just in the video game?

Korea is a land of great extremes in behavior, much like California. And California gave us Jim Robinson.

Don’t judge them all on the misconduct of a few. After all, America produced Gacy, Dahmer and Manson.

"I hope the Koreas go to war. That is one messed up place."

Anyone that *hopes* for a bloodbath in which millions of people would die horrible deaths is one messed up person.

Seriously dude. Seek help.

The comment was intended to be a cheeky response to the story.

But, on the larger point, there are plenty of populations that I wish would annihilate each other (Islam) and I don't think I need to “seek help” for it.

I’ll agree that “some people need killin’.” I just don’t think the general population of our best ally in east-Asia falls into that category.

Duly noted, though I still regard Japan as “our best ally in east-Asia” (which is odd, since I’m married to a Japanese).

Koreans torture and eat dogs, and the Japanese eat dolphins and make rape video games and sex robots. So neither is without issue.

Asia needs God. Big time.

I can’t believe this. It’s too ridiculous. If true, they’re just crazy people. Sometimes 2 insane people marry.

Obvious, this ain’t really in the same ballpark, but last year I lost a bunch of plants in my garden because instead of watering during the hot part of the summer, I was inside the air conditioned house playing Farmville on Facebook.

/facepalm.
