5.7x28 in and LCP?
That aint gonna happen
The ol 7.62x 25 is one hella round and I’d like to see it used more, but it never gonna go in anything besides a full size battlefield pistol or a submachinengun

I would take him to a rental range to try out the Glock 27 subcompact (I’m assuming he’s already fired the Glock 30). He just might like it better - you never know. I’m not a gun or caliber slob; I want people to carry what’s best for them, that they’ll love and not just tolerate.
You might also want to steer him toward a Springfield XD 40 subcompact (this is what I carry)...the grip safety introduces a passive safety that Mrs. S might be a little more comfortable with. Yes, he’s 21, but there’s no need to give his mother panic attacks. LOL.
