As I understand it, stores are only allowed a certain number of sales per year on Mountain House Cans. These prices are about as good as one will ever find.....north of 40% off.

This is freeze dried food made to last for 25 to 30 years. Very few companies make it, and make it well, such as Mountain House.
These are excellent prices. Trust me.
(and if the S ever does HTF, are you going to be concerned about the bills in your wallet which may now be worthless anyway, or the long-term food in your cellar?)
I wouldn’t buy “freeze dried pasta”...
not when you can buy and store wheat cheaper.
Look for the meats and dairies.
25 yr shelf life is worth the price, especially if you’ve been investigating what it will take to keep your family from starving in a SHTF situation.
Think of the soviet government induced famines.
That could happen. These people understand that you can’t control 300 million armed people, so they’ll try to take care of both problems.
It’s 10 servings per.
If it’s used during an *emergency* situation*, I doubt many will care about taste over substance.
The beauty of freeze dried foods is that you can eat them all cold (even meats).....though it may not be as palatable.

Yup. the stuff ain’t cheap, but it will last.
That's $14.49 per pound - for freaking pasta. And that's the sale price. The normal price is $31.67 per 19 oz. can, which works out to $26.66 per pound of pasta.
I'm wondering if you get rare gemstones at the bottom of each can. Kind of like a rich prepper's Crackerjacks.
Canned food will easily keep a couple of years and is a fraction of the cost. Add that to dried pasta and dried lentils and grains and you nave a pretty good stockpile.
Do you plan on just wandering in the local grocery store if there is a highway disruption or terrorist attack, dollar devaluation.
Plan to buy what you will need then NOW!
This is for people who do not want to rotate huge quantities of food every 2 years (that’s me).
If i were preparing, I’d probably be preparing for a shorter-term difficulty. My thought was to have a 1-year supply of food, mostly normal items that are packed to last a year, on monthly shelves, and cycle through them each year.
Essentially, you’d have spent ahead 1 year’s worth of groceries, so not only would your storehouse be good for a catastrophe, but if you lost your job it would also be like your short-term stash to get you to your next job (at which time you’d have to re-stock).
But I’m not paranoid enough yet to actually implement this, except I have apparently got the short-term storage down, in the form of fat — I figure I’d last a few months before I needed a serious amount of food. :-)

These prices are simply unbelievable....to those who follow this sort of thing.
Stock up now. At the very least, if you oversupply, this sort of thing can be used as barter in a disaster.
