Agents of Incompetence: ATF Seizes Gun Shipment Labeled ‘Toys’ — But They Really Were Toys
Pajamas MEdia ^ | March 8 | Bob Owens

One glance at the headlines would have convinced you that a major tragedy was averted by the keen eyes of U.S. Customs inspectors at the Port of Tacoma recently. KOMO blared: “Customs agents nab shipment of machine guns in Tacoma.” Other news outlets pointed out the dastardly nature of the shipment. KIRO in Seattle claimed: “Automatic Rifles Labeled As Toys Seized In Tacoma.” The Seattle Post-Intelligencer went with: “Customs seizes gun shipment labeled ‘toys.’”

Working from a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) press release entitled “Tacoma Seaport U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers Seize Shipment of Machineguns,” these news organizations had every reason to feel that they were just reporting the news, especially when Customs and Border Protection Area Port Director Rolando Suliveras Jr. claimed....

Par for the course for the gun-hating, evidence-planting, pregnant-woman-murdering, little-kitten-stomping, jackbooted thugs known as F-Troop (ATF).

Did you guys know they actually rules that a shoestring was a MACHINE GUN? And you're surprised they would declare that a toy airsoft rifle was convertible to a real subgun?

ATF does seem to be a bit weak on the engineering angles of these things. Makes me worried that they are getting weak over on the arson side as well.

Alcohol-Tobacco-Firearms isn't having a good week:

(PA) Troopers raid popular bars for unlicensed beers (and instead confiscate licensed ones) (Philadelphia Daily News / Philly.com ^ | March 8, 2010 | DON RUSSELL & BOB WARNER)

More than a dozen armed State Police officers conducted simultaneous raids last week on three popular Philadelphia bars known for their wide beer selections. The cops confiscated hundreds of bottles of expensive ales and lagers, now in State Police custody at an undisclosed location...

Checking their inventories against the state's official list of more than 2,800 brands, the cops seized four kegs and 317 bottles, totaling 60.9 gallons of beer, according to police calculations.

In fact, according to Maida, more than half the beer removed by the State Police was properly registered - but the cops couldn't find it on their lists because of "clerical errors" or "blatant ineptitude" between the police and the Liquor Control Board, with whom the officers were conferring by telephone.

She estimated the total value of the confiscated stock at $7,200, representing about 20 brands, some of which go by multiple names.

the ATF declared that these Airsoft guns could be converted into real, fully-automatic machine guns.

Yeah, I'm sure my espresso maker could be too. So many possibilities for downsizing in the government now. They are literally screaming out at us.

Must be transfers from DEA. They were probably the same guys who paid 10 grand for a pound of oregano. They are probably now qualified to become IRS Enforcement Agents for Obamacare. This nation is in so much trouble.

This should surprise no one. In a country in which a seven or eight year old child can be suspended from school for bringing a plastic fork in with lunch, anything is possible.

This happened under the school’s “zero tolerance” policy and is happening all over the country. Yet the same people who enforce that insane policy claim to be protecting the children. Everything they do is for the children.

They couldn’t care less about the children. How could you traumatize a child who has no understanding of what is happening to them if you cared about them?

This is progressives gone wild. This is human scum working to totally transform America. These monsters must be stopped. Taking the schools away from the control of the radical leftists is the place to start. Now all we have to do is get Republican lawmakers to start doing the job.

So can the upper receiver of a real U.S. rifle be mated to the lower receiver of an Airsoft gun as the BATF is trying to claim, turning the Frankentoy into a a real and untraceable machine gun?

That is the real question. The real questions which I have yet seen answered.

Some aficionados have custom fabricated guns that will fit inside the Airsoft’s pot metal casing. That’s as close to a “conversion” as is possible.

Which would raise another question. Why would a serial number go only on the part of the gun that is NOT essential to making the gun shoot?

Gee, wouldn't it be safer and easier to "convert" this?

or even this?
