A rational person living in Upperville, which practices a free market economy, where a can of beans costs the end consumer $1.00, will rationally travel over the border to Lowerville, which practices a socialist economy, to buy a can of beans which there cost the end consumer only $0.50, as all citizens of Lowerville contribute to the cost of that can of beans.
This may or may not have been the motivation of Palin’s family, 40 years ago, where geography and distance, as well as national health systems, were a factor.
