The Hamas commander who was killed in his Dubai hotel room was drugged and then suffocated, police have said.

It is believe a sedative was used to relax the victim's muscles to make his death look more natural.

Major General Khamis Mattar al-Mazeina, deputy commander of Dubai police said in a statement: "The killers used the drug succinylcholine to sedate Mahmoud al Mabhouh before they suffocated him."

They got their facts wrong. Succinyl choline does nothing to sedate you. It completely paralyzes all muscles, leaving one wide awake and totally cognizant, also totally unable to move or breathe. After administering succinyl choline, there is no need to suffocate the victim - that happens all by itself. He died very unpleasantly.
