WASHINGTON The White House called for a "simple up-or-down" vote on health care legislation Sunday as Speaker Nancy Pelosi appealed to House Democrats to get behind President Barack Obama's chief domestic priority even it if threatens their political careers.

Screw the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Ruling Class, establish Tyranny, insure domestic Insurrection...
I don’t think that there’s any question it (the Reconciliation bill) will get past the Senate. The real battle is in the House, now. I’m skeptical Nan can get it done, but you never know.
Democrats would scream bloody murder if Republicans called for a simple up or down vote on abortion, affirmative action, etc., etc.
It is health care confiscation!
And I'm impressed with the sheer immenseness of the number of my fellow Americans who understand this key point so precisely.
.
60/40 is pretty simple. You just count the votes and if there are 60, it passes.
Maybe Obama isn’t as smart as we thought, if he can’t compare two things unless they are equal.
This is crap. They had enough people to shut down the filibuster. Their “up or down” claim and it’s failure rests squarely with them and their dealmaking.

You’re right. That is exactly what the Pubbies should do now.
We don't have the votes!! We could never get it to the floor past Reid and Pelosi.
Wishful thinking until 2012.....concentrate on getting the Congress back in 2010 for now!!
I guess this is their way of spinning reconciliation.
They are flailing now.
True. There is so much to do, guess we need to prioritize. And 2010 Congress is what we need to work on.
To the Dem Senators/Reps: Do ya feel lucky, punk? Well do ya?
I still think this huge Government seizure of 1/6th of the economy could be defunded by future Congresses.
It's like Obama said (and I might add an excellent sound bite for political commercials) “this is what elections are for.”
Can’t get it done the right way, huh Jack Squat Barry?
Yeah, they’re short the votes in the House right now, but can Nancy twist enough arms?
Last estimate had her short by approximately 15.
What if the Rat’s lose?
Will stretch and Dingy propose best 2 of 3
Then best 3 of 5
Then best 4 of 7
........
didn’t zero spend enough time in the senate to know how congress works? I keep forgetting. He’s a slow learner
WELL!! That didn’t take long, did it?? Friday the word was they would at least take some time to make it appear that they considered what the Republicans proposed Thursday, but that lie did not even survive the weekend.
I hope they try it. I really do, because this could be the single best way to clean the House once and for all.
Personally, I’d support Paul Ryan for the next Speaker...
Kent Conrad, who chairs the committee that would have to deal with this, has basically said they can’t use reconciliation.
The interesting dynamic here is that this must pass the House first, but the House members are tired of sticking their necks out, just to be rebuked by the Senate.
This will not end well. The White House is still in denial.

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.) http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.
