“This simply cannot go on without people at a very high level taking matters into their own hands”

How can we be sure that this is not a result of people at a very high level”

My husband thinks that in the long run, real estate is the best bet. We just bought the house last year that we want to retire in. So we’ve decided to fix it up the way we want it now before inflation sets in and we can’t afford to do anything. We’re spending like crazy but we expect the home to, at the very least, retain its value and probably increase. Are we right? Who know?

What I find completely amazing is that Obama holds multiple weeks worth of war council meetings and then continues to push a healthcare bill that nobody wants yet the glaring issue of the economy and unemployment goes unaddressed. If I were POTUS I would have a war on unemployment and start by enacting real solutions. I would have one day of every week set aside for nothing but economic recovery meetings. The economy is Obama’s 9/11 moment yet instead of visiting ground zero and establishing a war plan he ignores the smoking rubble.

Now I am really worried.

I was hoping it would at least be "unexpected".

My wife and I just acquired 46 acres just outside of Cincinnati for dirt cheap. Buy land, they aren’t making anymore of it.

It looks to me that spending has stopped in the private sector as many businesses get by with the bare minimal while waiting for this economic hurricane to pass.

Everything you need to survive can be found within a 3 mile radius.
Good choice. Good investment.

You sound exactly like my husband. We would buy land if we could afford it. What we’re doing now is fixing up our house the way we want it and paying off our debts. There’s a house and land adjoining our property that we would love to buy, although I have no idea when the people there are going to leave it; maybe not within our life times. A lot of our money is in our retirement accounts and we’re afraid that they will be nationalized at some point. I’m a saver, not a spender, by nature, but I’m not sure saving is the best plan of attack right now. I’m just not sure about our future.

“Can you imagine: all those unemployed, under-employed, and given-up-hope-of-ever-being employed folks saying that they aren’t very confident consumers.”

Can you imagine the violence? I think I will go home, get in bed and pull the covers over my head until the storm passes by. I think there’s a song there.

“Reid: ‘Men, when they’re out of work, tend to become abusive’ Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) suggested Monday that domestic violence by men has increased due to U.S. joblessness. Reid, speaking in the midst of a Senate debate over whether to pass a $15 billion package meant to spur job creation, appeared to argue that joblessness would lead to more domestic violence. “I met with some people while I was home dealing with domestic abuse. It has gotten out of hand,”

We’re going to develop our small bit of land into a “sustainable homestead” in case the worse happens. We’re growing vegetables this year from heritage seeds and we’re considering growing rabbits for food at some point.

Frankly this is the greatest VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE in what obama is doing and his take on the direction of the country. The people have spoken.

Anyone criticizes the AfriAmerican, heinz 57 wizard and they are labeled with racism, but yet the people will steep in this marxist-muslim crap...

Its up to the people and clearly he does not represent the people, worse than that , he is Anti American in every endeavor. Treasonous. Intentionally treacherous.

Nefarious.

IF you have time to get set up, I'd recommend The Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery. The authors husband left her on short notice, and she had children to raise. She had nothing.... and I mean nothing! She had to survive starting with nothing. It's an extremely informative book for anyone who wants to start from scratch. (The only thing I have against this book is it's soft cover, but it's a must have for anyone preparing to start from scratch.)

Btttttt, I thought the talking point is “improving economy”. I have seen no evidence of this. All economic indicators are materially down.

Moreover, Onada drives more and more people each week into depression over his big gov’t, big spening socialist programs that most Americans do not want.

We are dealing with Socialists. It’s what they do. It’s all they do. You cannot institute Socialism with a thriving middle class. 0bama is getting rid of them ASAP.
