AZ-Sen. 2010: Fred Thompson endorses John McCain (Fred lavishes praise on RINO McCain)
The Phoenix Business Journal ^ | 2010-02-15

Posted on 02/17/2010 7:33:31 PM PST by rabscuttle385

U.S. Sen. John McCain has picked up the endorsement of former actor and Sen. Fred Thompson while opponent J.D. Hayworth gets ready for an event with Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas and State Sen. Russell Pearce.

Hayworth and McCain, seeking a fifth term, are battling in the Republican Senate primary this year.

Thompson — a former senator from Tennessee and actor on the “Law & Order” television show — announced his endorsement Wednesday. McCain and Thompson both ran for president in 2008.

“I’m for John McCain. I hope he gets re-elected. I’ll help him get re-elected if I can. It’s more important for me, and I believe for the country, to have McCain’s leadership and the respect that he brings to bear on an issue. When he takes the floor on a national security matter. When he takes the floor and leads the intellectual effort the for the surge. When, without his efforts, I don’t think we would have ever had a surge and therefore we would never have had a victory in Iraq,” Thompson said.

Hayworth, Thomas and Pearce will appear together Feb. 24 in Tempe. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio also backs Hayworth over long-time foe McCain.

Minute Gal, You said it all!

So easy to get attached to certain people in the public arena, then they let you down and sell you out! They want to sell our country out!

JD got voted out for a couple of reasons. First off he got caught up in the get rid of Republicans movement. Second they changed the boundaries of his district and incorporated more liberal areas of the state than he had previously and finally the Abramoff crap. Which since then JD has been exonerated from any wrong doing.

Very disheartening. And I still don’t understand why Sarah doesn’t run like the wind away from McCain. It sounds like if you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Nothing new with those policies.

Good Luck, J.D.

“The same Thompson of McCain-Feingold-Thompson Campaign Finance Reform. Should’ve known...”

Fred Thompson Defends McCain-Feingold
09/22/2007

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=22525

“Fred Defends McCain-Feingold: Fred Thompson finally made clear his position on the statist campaign finance restrictions embodied in the McCain-Feingold bill. And conservatives are clearly not going to be pleased.

When the former star of TV’s “Law and Order” series and newly-minted presidential candidate spoke to reporters on the porch of the Grand Hotel here, I asked Thompson whether he was proud of his role in enacting the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform legislation in ‘01.

“Yes,” replied the former Tennessee senator without hesitation.”

(NOTE THE DATE: Sept 2007!)
All this was ignored when the “FRed Republic” posters worshipped at his feet.

John Gibson was attacking JD and birthers and tea party today. He used the abramoff crap. He thinks we are to pure and are going to end up like the dems by getting rid of all rinos.

Somehow, and for some reason, this just didn't surprise me.

McRaza must be getting desperate to win, calling in the ‘big guns’ for help. FOX may get a big surprise if JD Haworth wins, let’s say WHEN he wins. Afraid Sarah should have disentangled herself from McRaza at least last summer and stayed out of this. She owes him jack

Fred helped clear the field of conservatives for McCain in 2008. I don’t know why anyone is surprised at this endorsement.

He’s one of the reasons Mccain won the nomination in 2008. Running a half-ass campaign to peel away enough Huckabee voters.

Just what I thought all along. Fred the RINO's water-boy. Held Johnny's place in line for him in the last POTUS primary when he sorta ran and distracted attention away from far more serious and worthy choices. Fred's best days were back in Tennessee taking down Ray Blanton. His first short term in senate was OK after he was won another term he became establishment Republican.

I lost all trust in Fred during the Clinton hearings he chaired. Good Ole Let the chips fall where they may" Fred soon was apathetic to bringing down Clinton. During the last POTUS primaries in Tennessee there were very few Fred signs out. Ron Paul even out did him in support. Time for Fred to stick to acting. He's much better at being a pretender.

Why?

He and McCain are friends.

Joesjane: You are so right...

Yes, it seems that Republicans are still the same regardless of the Tea Party movement. These idiots that continue to think the same really need to be voted out along with their compatriot Democrats. It’s time...!! Clean slate would really be nice...

I still receive emails from the Thompson pac - no more, am going to remove myself from their list. Geez, what a bunch of blind losers.

I imagine that they still think (Fred included) that the Tea Party is just a few disgruntled folks - no sense in getting worried about them...heh.

The world is changing around both parties and they are oblivious - heh (I actually like that).

Even Fox News wont have him on. Maybe it's a conflict of interest for them since Sarah works for them now.

That's a doggone shame. Sean Hannity had no problem using him frequently back in the Hannity & Colmes days when their show wasn't that big. JD sure wasn't invited there by Colmes. I guess he makes more money sucking up to McCain, Guiliani and the like.

I know & that’s disappointing. No doubt McLaRaza helped Brown to secure his support in AZ. Brown is someone we should watch like a hawk. I’m not surprised at Fred, he was always too chummy with Mac. I sent him some money, not much, then got tired of waiting for him to come out of his stupor.

McCain owed his nomination to Thompson. Globalist CFR Fred gave conservatives a bogus fan dance, dividing and freezing them from supporting Hunter in the hope a "big name" would mount a serious campaign.

Once it was evident Hunter had no "mo" Fred bowed out and McCain was free to gain the nomination and then take the RINO swan dive.

This isn't surprising. As you can see by the statement, National Security, vis a vis the War on Terror is a major part of Fred's concerns, and McCain HAS been firm on that in the Senate, and has some clout in the area that J.D. Hayworth just wouldn't have.
