There is just too much incentive for a congressman to spend. Combine that with a Pres__ent determined to destroy the country and you get national bankruptcy. This country needs a balanced budget amendment.

A balanced budget amendment would work as well as the 18th amendment did. Congress has ignored every law it passed to regulate its own spending. What makes you think Congress would follow a law enshrined in the Constitution? How much of the Constitution is already shredded and ignored already?

I’d go for a balanced budget amendment, but only if it was also tied to firm and low limits on the governments ability to tax. Otherwise a balanced budget amendment is just a big stick to be used to raise taxes.
