... but also supports efforts “to protect working men and women.”

That’s where we get screwed and the unions get a pass. Somehow, some way, they’ll sneak it in there.

“If Brown wins in Massachusetts, fire up the popcorn machine and watch the congressional rats dive off the USS Obama.”
__________________________________________________________

I tend to agree. If Brown wins next Tuesday night, that in itself may doom passage of healthcare. Brown’s victory in liberal Mass. will mean that NO DEMOCRAT WILL BE SAFE anywhere in this country in November. Any alliances that were formed to pass this autocity in the House and Senate were fragile and will quickly dissolve.

“The disconnect between skilled laborers at the bottom and union leadership at the top is quite drastic.”

Yes, it’s a mystery why union leadership has such contempt for workers that they capitulate all control over to one party and in so doing, give away the farm.

If this keeps up much longer, the Union bosses may find it's more efficient and cheaper to buy off corrupt Republicans they can find in Congress ...

God knows I want Brown to win by 45,000 votes but, if he loses by 2 votes, the Dems will bring out their smarmy happy faces while sneering “we told you so, we can take care of you, they can’t.”

As if the election never took place, it will be buried.

I work for a major union. To say they are skilled is an cxymoron. Most of them are morons. In the past as a supervisor in landscaping, illegals were 10 times smarter than these idiots. I think that this bill already opts out unions. This is just show. You can’t discuss anything with them, as they always blame Bush for everything. In 1992 in a union handout that told you who to vote for, a friend said, “Look. I don’t even have to study who to vote for. The union already did it for me.”

These meetings should be held in an open Congress, not behind closed doors with the DIC, Ditherer In Chief

I believe that the way that this tax is collected is the biggest problem: this is going to be a 40% tax on large premiums received by insurance companies --- yes, the Democrats have found a new nadir for "stupidest way to tax anything."

Putting a flat excise tax on big premiums but not on small ones: So what does any sensible insurance company do? Well, first, since they can totally avoid this excise tax on large premiums by not charging them, many insurance companies will simply elect not to offer health insurance that has large premiums. No muss, no fuss, all of the excise problems are neatly avoided.

If an insurer does offer a large premium plan, then it's going to have recover that 40% tax hit, which means that it has to pass the total cost of the tax, including all administrative costs, onto the consumer. That means by the time it hits the consumer's pocketbook, a $30,000 per year premium will leap to at least somewhere around $45,000 per year --- that is, a $2,500 per month premium shoots up to nearly $4,000 per month. That should really be an economic stimulus, especially considering that that tax will be collected for three years before any benefits will be paid out by the federal government.

Ain’t it a bit__h being in the “wealthy” class — now you have to share your wealth and it isn’t fun, is it?

I believe it was Rush yesterday who said that the unions want to get the health care off their backs and onto the tax payer. Union leaders will twist and shout about the Cadillac penalty but use it to turn all union health care over to the government. Then they get all that money for themselves.

The trade will be that they end up supporting the health care bill and The Messiah gives them Card Check in trade. Once they get Card Check then every business in the country will become unionized. The money will start rolling into the union's pockets and they won't have to be spending any of it on pesky health care programs, except their own of course.

They will exempt labor union plans.

Bingo, I've thought this since the tax proposal on Cadillac plans was floated.

I am in an equipment operators union and got a calender with a note yesterday , It said they have about 80% on the unemployment list right now and would be meeting with the president soon to try and press him on when this TARP bailout money will be arriving and why it is taking so long and that there are plenty of shovel ready jobs just waiting , so hold on.

The infrastructure related unions are fuming pissed too , I would bet they would like to send Obama swimming with the fishes in cement shoes like about everyone else with half a brain

I was speaking with a physician in SF about two weeks ago. I said that our company pays $2000.00 a month for two people and if there was a 40% tax on top of that we would not have any insurance at all. The cost for retirees is $1100.00 a month as the company chips in the rest. Can you imagine what that expense would be with a 40% tax on top of that?

He said, (this is a physician I consider the best in a top rated #3 hospital in the US),he pays $25,000.00 a year per employee for insurance. He also had some interesting information on taxation. He said the hospital is a non profit and pays no taxes. He said physicians, employees, nurses etc are the only ones paying.

What is considered a Cadillac plan just means you do not have to get pre-approval. That you do not rely on a pencil pusher to make decisions on your health. You still have premiums, copays and deductibles generally.

Obama says that with these plans people go to the physician more. How many of you go to the physician just because you can?

The truth is 20% of the people on any insurance plan use up 80% of the costs paid out. There are those with chronic illness (which is what insurance is for) and some let's face it are hypochondriac's or simply drug or alcohol users who love a good RX(these need some good counseling.

There was a letter to editor sent to me about California's Cardoza. Let me see if I can find it.

Editor: I think I might run for Dennis Cardoza's job as congressman. I'm sure that I could get elected. I know I could out perform some of his hair brained ideas that he seems to follow.

For example: I would introduce a bill that says everyone has to own a brand-new Mercedes. You must pay $550 a month for this car, and if you don't pay, you'll face a fine of $2,500 a year. The catch is that you can't drive the car off the lot for four years. Meanwhile, you need to keep on paying payments toward your current vehicle.

That's what health care is all about. A family of four (Sun-Star article) making $66,000 a year will pay 10 percent -- or $550 a month -- toward health care, but you won't be able to cash in on it for four years. If you don't pay, you'll shell out a fine of $2,500. In the interim, you will keep on paying your own health care insurance.

The difference between my point of view and Cardoza's is after four years you will, at least, have a Mercedes sitting in your driveway.

Looks like the people in Cardoza's area need to be shopping around for a new rep.

Once again, Obama has found a way to punish the responsible. Those who paid for health insurance and never expected the PEOPLE to foot the bill. Will now be punished to pay for the irresponsible.

The message from Obama is, do not be responsible, do not pay your mortgage, do not pay for HC, in business we will rescue you as long as you do as we say, just sit back we will take care of you as soon as we steal enough from others who HAVE worked hard to fund everything in our socialist progressive agenda.

Morons. They’re aren’t happy when they get stuck, but they’re perfectly fine sticking it to others to pay for all their stuff.

What do they think they voted for? Ball up and accept your part of socialism, or perhaps wake up and oppose...not holding my breath.
