New York, NY (LifeNews.com) -- International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) recently released its annual performance report for 2008-2009. Despite an economic downturn and a slight decrease in annual income, the abortion industry giant boasts of increased activity across all of its lines of work -- including condom distribution, advocacy and abortion services.
IPPFs overall income for 2008 was US$119.7 million, down from over $120 million the previous year.
While IPPF's total financial intake dipped, its abortion business boomed. The organization provided almost 428,000 abortion services to young people alone, with a staggering 1,134,549 total number of such services almost double the number from 2007 across the globe.
Despite an increase in abortion services, IPPF remains unsatisfied with the figure, arguing that "in comparison to other types of services provided by IPPF Member Associations, these figures remain low and indicate that much needs to be done in terms of future investment in this area if IPPF is to meet its objectives of providing women with the choice and right to safe abortion when faced with an unwanted pregnancy."
In the report, IPPF boasts of promoting its abortion agenda among its member associations in traditionally pro-life countries.
IPPF highlights its work in pro-life Ireland, which maintains strict limits on abortion access despite pressure from its EU partners and abortion advocacy groups such as IPPF. IPPF boasts that through its member associations, it has been on the ground helping to provide support for rallies and debates to challenge Ireland's pro-life laws since "public debate is often dominated by religion."
IPPF also boasts of its successes in Spain, where abortion only had been permitted in cases of rape, fetal impairment or for the health of the mother.
The IPPF report credits its Spanish Member Association for successfully campaigning in 2008 for an amendment to the abortion law to remove restrictions and legalize first trimester abortions on demand.
The report laments the "dramatic decrease in funding for family planning" from international donors and claims that the drop "represents a decline in donor interest rather than a decline in need."
IPPF intends to focus its future work on securing sustainable funding for its activities by capitalizing on statements made by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on family planning funding, and on the Obama administration's repeal of the Mexico City policy so that funding to "international sexual and reproductive health organizations" will be restored.
IPPF views these developments as part of a "growing international interest" which "needs to be seized upon in order to drive forward the agenda for universal access to reproductive health." IPPF will be focusing on using the "emerging momentum around maternal health to secure new support and financing" to fund abortion growth.
Beyond its traditional emphasis on abortion, contraception, family planning and advocacy, Executive Director Gill Greer indicates IPPF will expand into new areas such as population dynamics and climate change to garner increased funding.

Peerahps this will ease the pain...
What a host of children will be greeting us when we all go home. Thank God He knew each one “before they were formed in the womb”.....they are indeed with Him...and that is my only comfort in this slaughter.

To put it in simpler terms, we have killed about a million people as intelligent as Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Newton, Galileo, Jefferson, Franklin, et al. We have no way of knowing what medical or technological advances have been unfulfilled due abortion.

Why thank you Wagglebee...nicely stated and brings home my point.
When I have had confrontations with those who support murdering these children, and after listening to the same old arguements of incest, rape etc. you can pretty much silence them asking them to justify the numbers. They then have nothing to say because there is no reasoning which can even remotely justify....it’s not there.

Rape is always a favorite reason given by abortionists. However, the facts simply aren't there.
There are approximately 4000 abortions performed EACH DAY in the United States.
There are, depending on which statistics are used, somewhere between 65,000 and 95,000 rapes per year in the United States. Of those, 5% or less of the victims will become pregnant. This means that there are only 3300 to 4800 pregnancies per year as a result of rape and not all of them will even want abortion.
Pregnancies Resulting from Rape (scroll down the page about two-thirds of the way)
In other words, abortions on rape victims compose LESS THAN THREE-TENTHS OF ONE PERCENT of abortions in the United States.

Or any kind of “health.” The numbers are huge, and probably understated. It’s a travesty.

See post #18, this is just the number of abortions that Klan Barrenhood does.

Back in 1991 when I was 34 years old I had a severe concussion due to an auto accident. My husband at the time says it broke what was left of my liberal bone - and he is right.
Due to the effects of the accident (double vision amongst them) I was forced to to recuperate for several weeks. It gave me time to look over my life and reflect upon my views. I came out of that experience a Conservative and eventually changed from being pro-choice to pro-life.
I thank God for this life changing experience.

Yes.... very few, therefore there is no argument for these numbers of lives taken.
Thanks for the stats on this. I knew years ago this arguments carried no water. There were then no records of pregnancies by rape or incest which could be produced.
When Roe vs Wade passed I shared with others that since the sanctity of life was no longer of value...we could expect all other laws will reflect that mindset, do we not see that has indeed followed suit? Our laws are an embarrassment in how they protect and provide for all which is seen by God as opposed to Him...and will become moreso as time passes.

Thank you for all the Pro-life posts. We must stay informed. If IPPF performs 1.1 million abortions a year, we should also remember that there are approximately 1 - 1.5 million abortions perpetrated in America alone and that PP of America is the largest abortion provider here. They are not the only operator, of course, but are the largest percentage-wise. There are about 30 - 40 million abortions a year (reported) worldwide.
We must take every opportunity to prevent our tax dollars going to this demonic organization. Even the United Way funnels donated money to them. This MUST be stopped. We should also make sure our congressmen and women (federal and state) fully understand their constituents will not stand for any of our money going to any group that performs or supports/promotes abortion both here and abroad. We have to take a stand, NOW.

The power to stop this was when the American people didn’t stand up to Roe vs Wade....it Passed. There were not enough if us to stop it...there were more who didn’t stand at all on either side...by doing so they were in favor.

I agree. The R v. W decision itself was, admittedly (by Norma McCorvey - as Jane Roe), false in that she claimed to have been raped. McCorvey later recanted her assertion of rape and has now become a strong voice for pro-life causes.
The rape/incest/health exceptions were the “nose of the camel in the tent” because within a short time, health was defined in the Doe v. Bolton companion case to virtually mean anything from imminent death to financial problems to age of the female. This has resulted in the most liberal abortion laws in the world which allows it for any reason, or no reason, and at any time in the pregnancy.
If you think about it, allowing the killing of an unborn child based upon the circumstances of his/her conception basically said that human life was disposable. It is no wonder that euthanasia followed. We will soon have mandatory abortion and euthanasia in this country if we continue in our current direction. Who will stop it???
