Times Square Shut Down Due To Suspicious Vehicle 42nd Street And Broadway Closed As NYPD Investigates Park White Van NEW YORK (CBS) ―
The NYPD has closed down part of Manhattan's Times Square in response to a report of a suspicious vehicle, CBS 2 HD has learned.
Police blocked off Broadway at 42nd Street just after 11 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a white 1992 Dodge van with tinted windows that has been parked at the location for two days.
The van has temporary plates and a tarp is covering the windows, police say.

Level 1 - that means don’t disturb Obambi in the bathroom?
I live a few blocks from there. Had to have walked by the yesterday. That was the route I took. And there are always vendor vans parked in this particular section. BTW- this van is also parked right next to a Police Station.Surely their security cams would reveal who parked it. Odd that it takes two days before they become suspicious?
“If its got plates, even temporary plates, it should be fairly easy to track down.”
Per FNN, no plates - front or rear.
We all hope.
I live a few blocks from there and that section is where vans are permitted to park...vendors...that type of vehicle (and it’s right along side a Police Station)
That placard and that they expanded the perimeter, due to visual inspection of the van’s contents. Very disconcerting.
Could be they just don't want live TV showing what they are doing, in case there is somebody watching and holding the trigger.
I live a few blocks from there. That section is where vendors and trucks are permitted to park. And I agree...since it’s also along side of a police station...why would they not look twice at a vehicle that stayed over night?
There was a thread here a couple of days ago about the Israelis calling all their diplomats back home for a meeting.
And in NYC they ticket first, before towing. Chances are this vehicle already had a ticket on it, and some alert traffic agent realized it was a suspicious situation. (The “allah akbar” writing on the side of the van didnt enter into that thought process, however).
I hope it’s nothing but someday, when it does go down, this is a lot like what it wil look like- if we get lucky enough to have any advance notice
Apparently it was a French anarchist (if you want to believe that) but that was the story I heard long afterwards....
How far from Times Square to the UN? I’m thinking they should move it somewhere safe before detonating whatever is inside.
The police have the van opened now with a thumb’s up to other officers, per FOX reporter.
Due time to revoke all travel, student, work, Visa’s until the War on Terrorist is finished
I hope it won't take me too long to find them, LOL - wish me luck for a speedy return!
Nothing. Bomb Squaddie took his face shield off and regular cops now up there. Somebody will have to pay for shutting down Times Square.
Thanks. I wonder how often they call for that kind of meeting.
LOL. I think he’s hiding out somewhere, caught like a duck in a noose.
Yea...the UN makes sense :>)
but way too many blocks to the East River....
