You neglected to mention the most important thing about AMS: tulips!

Europe’s great. Transportation near major cities is a breeze. More of my travel was post 9/11 and airport security was solid, and often intimidating - military, dogs, serious automatics.

Maybe the handler in Amsterdam thought if they produced his passport he would be denied entry into US...joke was on the handler, huh?

Oh, yes the tulips and the tulip bulbs which for some reason I always feels like I am smuggling them into the US.

And then there are the KLM Flight Attendants. Simply amazing.

I like the idea of the a bomb sniffing to stand by the skyway as the passengers are boarding. However, those dogs are not 100% accurate and lots of people may have legitimate reasons to have explosive residue on their clothes when they are boarding a plane.

WHERE’S THE PASSPORT? I think we need to ask the media to confirm with the FBI whether or not he had a passport.

If this story is true, they let a known Muslim terrorist onto a plane with no passport or valid ID. And did the guy who ushered him through customs in Amsterdam provide them with any ID himself? Who was he?

Good questions.

I doubt the Haskells would make this up. They are both attorneys with their own practice so they would have a lot to lose if they did something like that. The rest of the account coincides with what's been said as well.

” I would again point out that this man with no baggage, no passport, and a one-way ticket purchased with cash was allowed to board an US bound flight without being properly searched or questioned and was seated in a place on the aircraft that made him a particular danger to the flight if he detonated an explosive device.”

this stinks to high heaven....and originates in DC.....

Not really a surprise, however, how can you get multiple entry visas, as the SRM claiming, if you don’t have a Passport???

When I was in the Merchant Marine (Scandinavian ships) and calling on U.S. ports, we had to submit a crew list to an U.S. consulate for notarizing, and if failed to find a U.S. consulate, we would NOT be allowed on shore at any U.S. port, because we could not get a shore pass (visa) by the boarding immigration officer!!!

"There were two people arrested. The other guy was a sick guy in the bathroom."

I think this article is refering to a second guy on the same flight as the failed Terrorist.

The second guy you are refering to was on a completely different plane yesterday.

According to the Nigerian aviation authorities, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had his passport when he boarded the KLM flight from Lagos to Amsterdam:

From AFP: Suspected US plane bomber identified by Nigerian father (26 December 2009):

The director general of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Harold Demuren, told a news conference Saturday in Lagos that the suspect "boarded KLM flight out of Lagos on the 24th December, enroute Detroit, Michigan, USA, via Amsterdam."

"The e-ticket was purchased from KLM airport office in Accra on 16th December 2009," he said.

The suspect personally checked in at 20:35 pm (1935 GMT) and he went "through a normal checking process. His passport was scanned, his US visa was scanned and the APIS (Advance Passenger Information System) returned with no objection," he said.

His Nigerian passport, issued on September 15, 2005, would expire on September 14, 2010. His multiple US entry visa, issued in London on June 16 last year, would expire on June 12 next year, he also said.

I think this story may not pan out.

It's really hard for me to believe this. I've always had to show a passport to board an international flight. NWA wouldn't do this because he'd be denied entry and they'd have to take him right back. I'm guessing the witness misunderstood what was taking place.
