I strongly disagree on price gouging, but I respect your point of view. My only point about Jeb Bush is that most if not all governors take my view on it, as do most people. There are some regulatory measures that need to be in place (free markets, to most, need to be regulated against cheating) and anti-gouging laws, I believe, should be one of them. You’ll contend that the owner should set the price, but when he’s doing so temporarily to profit from a storm, most don’t consider that to be fair game and I agree.
I understand your side - that the owner owns the stuff and he should be able to set any price. But you admit that it’s not just Huckabee who disagrees with that viewpoint.
Huckabee did issue more commutations than most governors and I agree that the system he put in place (allowing objections, having his staff vet the application, etc.) is admirable and brought balance to the corrections system. But in this case I think most governors would have done the same thing. That was my point about most governors.
We both got heated. No problem. I’m still on this thread with TigerEyes because I need debate practice and to make sure I can articulate my beliefs as best as possible (and if I thought his arguments had merit, I’d concede). But your posts are a pleasure to respond to.
So you are staying here on this thread to harass TigersEye? I hope the Mods take notice of your posts.
Again you bring my name into a post without pinging me.
