It would be appropriate to let him know how much we appreciate his vote. Not for the value of the vote, but because he gave the Dhims cover to say that it was "bipartisan."

Cao was on one of the last flights to the U.S. after the fall of Saigon in the Vietnam War. Cao was raised by an uncle after his parents and five sisters did not make it out of the country.

HUH

Dede was a liberal not a republican, just because she had an R does not mean she would have voted against bozo.

the letters do not matter , ie.e 39 Dems voted against it, It is high time we forget the letters after names on election night and make the voters actually do some work and find out who they are really voting for

the same woman who was endorsed by the daily Kos, move on ACORN, working families

you mean that woman

give me a break, she was a liberal and would have switched letters anyway.
She had nothing in common with the GOP, NOTHING

“Actually Dede opposed the public option.

The blame of Ny23 rest solely on the third party candidate and those who backed him.”

Your post is idiotic for so many reasons that I don’t know where to start. You seem to think that Scozzafava’s word means anything at all, or that ultraliberals can tell the conservative majority whom to support. You also think that Pelosi got as nany Democrat votes as she could, when in fact she allowed some Democrats to vote against it to save their skins. And the there’s the fact that you believe tgat 220 minus 2 equals a number below 218 . . . .

Cao said: “Today, I obtained a commitment from President Obama that he and I will work together to address the critical health care issues of Louisiana including the FMAP crisis and community disaster loan forgiveness, as well as issues related to Charity and Methodist Hospitals. And, I call on my constituents to support me as I work with him on these issues.”

Forgiving of loans in exchange for his vote??
Geez, can’t wait to hear how much of our tax money goes to paying off these bribes!

I’m surprised every ER in the USA wasn’t overflowing last night, with so many people’s blood pressure thru the roof.

Agreed! If I did doctors or hospitals I would have been one of them.

I am a little hesitant to put too much faith in SCOTUS after McCain-Feingold...

What little faith I had in SCOTUS evaporated on 1-20-09.
By 2010 ACORN and their newly organized sister groups will bastardize the election to the point of unrecognizable. 2010 will make '08 look like child's play.

My point was that going after Cao ... for voting on a bill his constituents want...

I understand and appreciate your point and theoretically agree. My point is and was, if it is unconstitutional, it IS unconstitutional, regardless of your constituency's wishes.

Thank you for posting this. When I lived and worked in CA, there were no more patriotic, hard working Americans than the Vietnamese. My heart goes out to them.

She opposed the public option very clear.

Since you love spreading and lies you fight right in the daily Kos crowd.

,Cao is a fool, he was not going to win reelection anyway, that district wants a black male D representing them.

Sold his Catholic soul to the devil (Pelosi/Obama) for nothing then, didn't he? Does he not know about the mandatory abortion provision in this bill....or did he vote for it just to keep his cushy job?

What a maggot!

Just trying to save his own sorry ass in his 80% minority district.

Yup.

Now where's the screaming thread with phone numbers, dedicated to each and everyone of the of the Democrats from red districts who voted for this monstrosity.

Now that would be far more constructive.

Actually the official Republican nominee opposed the public option loud and clear during the campaign.

Palin endorsement of the third party candidate effectively sunk her campaign and delivered her seat to the democrats, a remarkable idiotic strategy.

Every vote made a difference.

Having a Republican opposing the public option would have made a difference when the votes were so close.

The tea parties etc dont mean much when you are hopelessly outnumbered in Congress and dont have much representation.

1. He voted the wishes of his constituents, not his party leaaders.

The problem is, the majority of his welfare-thieving, moronic constituents should not be allowed to vote.

There was an article last Summer, and a thread on here, that Cao might vote for Obamacare. It should not have come as a surprise.

Why did he do it?
a) Look up a profile of his Congressional District. It’s basically the 8th Ward of New Orleans. Those folks who camped out at the Super Dome following Katrina are his constituents. They are poor, they are (mostly) African American and there’s one more government entitlement they want enacted (on your dime).

B) Cao’s vote was not cast until the Dems acheived their 218 needed to pass. I believe his vote was held in reserve, and would have voted with the R’s, if there was any chance some Blue Dogs might have changed their minds before the counting was done. At that point, the GOP leadership said ‘go ahead.’

The meaningless abortion amendment was used to guile the 8-10 pro life Dems to vote FOR the major bill. It gave them and Cao cover. Once Nancy had hammered out that deal, she had all the votes she needed. In retrospect, maybe ALL the R’s should have voted against the abortion amendment and let it fail, so the overarching bill would have failed. But Nancy wasn’t going to let that happen.
