First you say “the empirical evidence says otherwise,” then you say “let’s wait for the empirical evidence.” Which is it? You cannot have it both ways.

Yeah, and I haven’t seen any reports of it being used in the few shootings involving the 5.7, so I’ve got no idea.

Hit send too soon.
On the other hand, I don’t know how well even a Hornady round would expand as I’m looking at a picture of one and the aperture in the tip that would force it open looks tiny.

C>These ballistics tests showed 4 wound channel in a pork shoulder. Ballistic gel was showing 9 to 11 inches of penetration. Its hardly a .22 magnum. Bullet weight and muzzle velocity are not that much different from .22 WMR. 5.7 is a little faster out of a little shorter barrel, bullet weight is or can be, the same.
The choice of this particular weapon was not random chance. It was guided by someone else for ease of use
by a neophyte for maximum effect.

First you say the empirical evidence says otherwise, then you say lets wait for the empirical evidence. Which is it? You cannot have it both ways. If you will go back and read or re-read what I stated you will
realize that I did not state what you claimed that I stated.

Really?
First:
“ The empirical evidence at Ft Hood would belie that assumption.”
Then:
“As stated by someone above,
lets wait for the empirical evidence.
The after action report “
So, which is it? Do we have empirical evidence proving me wrong, or do we have to wait for it? You cannot have it both ways.

If he was going for maximum effect against unarmored targets (which is what he had) he should have picked a different gun and a different caliber.
Look upthread - the 5.7 does not carry the necessary energy to be all that effective.

Yup, sure do, and we’re not going to see one for a while. We do, however, have witness statements so far and simple statistical analysis.
However, you asserted that there was empirical evidence proving me wrong. Then you stated we should wait for the evidence. Either we have evidence now or we need to wait for it. Which is it?

Still haven’t answered the question. Is there or is there not evidence in the public domain, right now, proving me wrong?

I meant that there are many people that own lots of guns, go to the range all the time, members of the NRA that sometimes slip up and say clips or refer to them as clips. I’ve done it, I’ve heard numerous others do it and they all know it’s really a magazine.
If they have lots of guns that take clips, some get used to saying clips. I disagree that it always means someone doesn’t own or know anything about guns if they slip up and call a mag a clip. I’ve seen many do it here on FR. It almost always causes riducule

Something else ironic, at least to me is, that this guy went to Virginia Tech, and during the Va Tech shooting a few years back I distinctly remember a photo of a Va. Tech officer taking cover behind a wall near one of the doors at the school. He was wielding the FN-5.7X28 pistol.
