The appearance of “V,” a refried UFO show on ABC, suggests that President Barack Obama is a dangerous alien. What’s interesting is that this new series is by a major network that went unconscionably gaga over Obama last year.
Such reportage — the gushing, idolatrous positivism issued by Katie Couric and Charles Gibson in the 2008 race, a perfect, present-day equivalent of Aldous Huxley’s “feelies” — is viewed here as it is with Huxley: as totalitarian. Elizabeth Mitchell, Earth Mother incarnate from the “Lost” series, back from True North to form an underground, is definitely worth the watch. Maybe they are cruising under the censors as they do in “Lost,” like the 19th-century Russians did, but the insurgents here very definitely view the federal government with its “sleeper cells” bringing “endless wars,” duplicitously “spreading hope,” pitching healthcare bribes to the clerks and proles and cultivating the blind devotion of the young in the Maoist and Leninist traditions as totalitarian...
Before he died in 1961, the pioneering Swiss psychiatrist C.G. Jung predicted what might be called an age of hysteria ahead as we approached the millennial year 2000. As we know from ancient Egyptian history, he wrote in 1959, psychic changes like UFO sightings always appear at the end of one Platonic Month and at the beginning of another: “We are now nearing that great change which may be expected when the springpoint enters Aquarius.”
Jung may have been right. Utopianism is a symptom or a byproduct of Jung’s prognostication. At worst, it is a possession, even a collective possession. It may be the curse of our age. The least among us...desire to “save the world,” — that is, to remake the others to be like us instead — a wish which Jung’s colleague Barbara Hannah called “just childish.”

LOL, I’ve watched it a few times (own it), but I don’t remember that character off hand. It’s been a few years since I viewed them last.
Just the mention does bring a smile to my face.
The Obama-bots are one paranoid bunch. I guess every TV villain from now on will be considered an insulting allegory to the Dear Leader.

That’s exactly my position, so I know what you mean. My wife is also a strong willed person who isn’t a pushover for anyone. She has a strong faith, a very well respected position and is one of the most positive individuals I have met. That last trait is so important.

Why “V” is not racist - except for being pro-human

• “V” is about an alien race; Obama is (probably) a member of the human race
• The resistance in “V” is slaughtered by the aliens. Obama isn’t killing his critics yet.
• Aliens in “V” offer universal health care to both control and cure us so they can eat more of us later; Obama only offers universal health care to control us.
• The health care of the aliens in “V” actually cure injuries and illness of the sickest. Obama’s universal healthcare is a denial of care to the sickest.
• Alien health care is free. Obama’s is free, but the tax rate will kill you if the waiting lists don’t.
• The aliens want to mine minerals and harvest water. Obama thinks the Earth should be unsullied and turning off water to save fish is more important than dying crops and unemployed farmers.
• The main interviewer in “V” was surprised when told to only ask softball questions. Mainstream media interviewers volunteer.
• The interviewer in “V” believed in the principal of fairness. In real life, the reporter wouldn’t have.
• The fascists in “V” are planning on world domination. Obama only wants to dominate one nation.
• The aliens in “V” have infiltrated major religious groups and seek to guide them to their views. In real life, religious groups not already at the altar are second class citizens if not “bigoted” and “hateful”.
• The fascist aliens in “V” are beautiful and friendly. Except for Sasha and Malia, there are neither such people in the US Wanna-Be Dictatorship.
• The fascist aliens in “V” have simple titles like “leader”. Obama’s regime picks more negative words like “czar”.
• The fascist aliens have infiltrated our democracy but want to continue the façade of freedom. In real life, judges publicly overthrow and then chastise those who vote against the political elite.
• The fascists in “V” actually like babies. Sautéed or raw, but like them. Is this better than being a burden?
• The fascists in “V” have a better slogan, though they are just as hypocritical.
• The scripts for “V” were written during the Bush Presidency, but carry the classic elements of fascism through the story. Thus it was intended to call the Republicans, not the Democrats fascists. But if the shoe fits …
