Why does the appearance of a piece of metal strike such fear and revulsion in some folks? I just don't get it....these are my fellow Nebraskans!

We'll stop when the jOker resigns. 'Nuff said.
I didn't hear you schmucks crying about all the overt assassination fantasies directed at Bush for EIGHT YEARS. But we have one or two incidents of legal, law-abiding citizens proudly exercising a 2nd Amendment Right which we ALL have and you girlie-boys squeal.

Must be a journalism major over at the college. No one else would use the term “creepy.”

Ahh, yes. The “2nd amendment is for hunting” crowd speaks.
They are the same ones that think the 2A doesn’t apply to semi-autos or pistols.

Please God don't ANYONE touch a freaking hair on the affirmative action presidents head.
I really don't want to live in a world with every street, school and park not named for MLK being renamed for the zero.

After watching Oliver North's recent “War Stories” regarding the state of conditions in the border states, I owe those who took umbrage at my post on the thread which was similar to that of this newspaper an apology.
My position is always that it is a right, but not necessarily a prudent thing to do. Having seen what life in the border states has deteriorated to, I say you have to do what you need to do to save life and limb. Phoenix is the kidnap capitol of the world. Shame, shame on those who have allowed our sovereignty to be so devalued.

creeps us out Sorta' like how I feel about a collaborator with terrorists, an Islam sympathizer and a Communist as the President of the US. I am not a pussy because it just don't creep me out. A manly man would come and say that I just don't like it.

Bah ... I feel safest when surrounded by law abiding citizens empowered to defend themselves, their kin, and their neighbors. The military and police forces are nice. But they are limited in number and response time. I like feeling safe. If someone doesn't feel safe around law abiding citizens who happen to be armed, it may just be because that person is not a law abiding citizen himself.

It's quite common for uncivilized tribesmen to believe simple items are possessed of magical power. It's childish superstition, but maybe they fear those pieces of metal will somehow render their herds sterile or steal their souls.

The guy who wrote this article isn’t a fellow Nebraskan.
Or he wouldn’t think it was creepy.
There’s a whole lot of security people with guns around the President all the time.
Who says somebody couldn’t slip in there who shouldn’t be there.

This will not be popular here but ... Just because you have the right to do something doesnt mean it is the right thing to do.
Some people are taking showing up at rallies with guns to be a form of intimidation. Maybe they are over-reacting or taking it in a way that is not intended, but responsible gun owners dont use their guns for intimidation.
Consider: If union folks showed up with clubs and tire irons at a protest event, and joked about beating up ‘scabs’, would you feel threatened? I think the liberals are seeing these shows of guns in the same way and liars like MSNBC are playing up those fears. We shouldnt give them excuses or video clips that let them do that and tarnish the legitimate and peaceful protests and rallies.

Liberal columnist E.J. Dionne asked a provocative question: "Try a thought experiment: What would conservatives have said if a group of loud, scruffy leftists had brought guns to the public events of Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush?" There's no doubt in our minds that conservatives would have been upset, perhaps outraged. Proof that the writer is either a flagrant liar or has not the most tenuous grasp on reality.
BTW, since when does Brooks Brothers count as "scruffy"?
