"The Death Book"?
FoxNews ^ | Aug. 23, 2009 | Chris Wallace

We did something different on Fox News Sunday today. Instead of discussing the week's news--we brought something up that I suspect most people have never heard about.

It is a 51-page end-of-life counseling book the Department of Veterans Affairs is now using--called "Your Life, Your Choices." I learned about it on Wednesday--in an article in the Wall Street Journal--under the title "Death Book for Veterans."

I would like to see Palin make a comment about the VA death book. Something to the effect that anyone considering enlisting in the military must read and understand the book before signing the dotted line.

Chris’ father Mike Wallace is one who thinks handicapped people have no right to live. I would bet the gatherings of the Wallace family are lots of fun. How does Chris put up with it?

I am not aware of Mike Wallace's opinions on handicapped people. I did a little checking and found out he was the one who did the interview with Dr. Kevorkian that eventually landed the Dr. in prison. I did not remember this.

Last week, Chris Wallace asked good questions about the health care bill from some "experts". Their answers weren't all that great. This week he went after the "Death Book" issue with much more vigor. He simply wouldn't let Tammy Duckworth "duck" the issue. Maybe it was the veterans' angle. He seems to have lots of respect for those who have served.

I imagine the Wallaces do have "interesting" gatherings at family get-togethers. Maybe Mike could learn a thing or two from his son. :-)

People fear they will have the potential of deciding on life and death issues by denying treatment to certain groups, ages, whathaveyou.

Of course, they will. Under the National Health Service, the British have NICE (the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence). NICE is a "death panel" by any other name. And Tom Daschle, evidently still very much involved in the administration's health care policy, thinks NICE is a great idea.

NICE is responsible for determining the cost/benefit ratio for patients and setting an appropriate standard. Currently, if they estimate it will cost more than $45,000/yr to keep you alive until your life expectancy expires, you're going to get the pain pills and end-of-life counseling -- as opposed to treatment.

If one is a dialysis patient, for example, nobody over 55 qualifies for treatment.

I'm over 55. And I'm a dialysis patient. As a consequence, I've got a bone to pick with President Obama, little Tommy Daschle and the Democrats.

Nathan, c’mon now. You know that private insurance will disappear. That’s the grand plan. It starts with the illusion of the government “competing” with private insurers just “to keep them honest” as Pelosi says. But the incentive structure will cause employers to drop their insurance plans and switch to the government plan. In the end (1 year? 5? 10?) we will all get our “coverage” from the government and all be forced to listen government “medical Miranda rights,” i.e., “you have the right to die.”

Was the “death book” in print when Seinfeld was still on? I heard part of the book, and it sounded exactly like the scene with Ben Stein, Elaine, and Kramer: “You can’t walk, or talk, but you can eat.” “You can speak, but you have no liver function.”

I totally understand your concern. Regardless of where people are today with their health issues, the one thing we all should know, is that tomorrow might be a totally different scenario. Any one of us could end up with a life threatening issue.

I've read about people who have dealt with breast cancer in their families. They relate very sad stories from breast cancer forums about Canadians who do not get the treatments that are essential to monitoring their condition. It is beyond me that media types do not understand this "reform" bill could significantly lessen a loved one's chances of survival. I think Chris Wallace has been one of the few in the media who has begun a more honest debate on the issues involved.

Dr. Pearlman, who wrote the Death book for Vets, is an assisted suicide advocate. Not a surprise.

it reminded me of this skit

My guest tonight is Mr. Irwin Mainway, President of Mainway Novelties, and Chairman of the Board of Mainway Latex Corporation. Mr. Mainway, you are clearly the main flagrant offender in this area. For instance, your company manufactures and distributes this Halloween costume.. ..Johnny Space Commander mask, which retails for $6.95. It's nothing more than a plastic bag and a rubber band. This is very dangerous for young children!"

Okay, I'm gonna say something about my product right here, Johnny Space Commander mask. I want to say, first of all, it's a very fluid item, in terms of sales. I don't know, Miss Face, if you're familiar with the movie "Star Wars"? Well, this movie has generated a tremendous amount of popularity and enthusiasm about space and science fiction. This Johnny Space Commander mask here is a pure fantasy toy. I mean, you know, kids can have a lot of fun with a toy like this, you know? Let me show you.. "Hello, hello, this is Johnny Space Commander. I'm in deep space, I'm gonna land the rocket now!" You see what I mean? You see what I mean? It's a pure fantasy toy!

LOL. I don't think so. Doesn't sound too far off except the current "Death book" would ask VA members to decide whether those conditions would constitute a life not worth living.

Ha, Chet has plenty of time to come up with one of his reasonable responses. Am I the only one who finds him a master of double talk? Off topic — that was one heck of a storm that just blew through here!

The media is no longer a source of information. Instead, it is solely a source of left-wing statist propaganda. Therefore, you shouldn't expect them to understand or sympathize with a genuine human emotion -- unless it somehow supports their agenda.

Sad. But true.

I’m thinking that when I go to DC next month, I’ll list some of the oldest members of Congress and suggest that THEY take the Blue Pill for the benefit of younger people who want to be in Congress.

Hmmmmmmmmmm I can start with a Republican: Chuck Grassley, 76; Daniel Inouye, 85; George Voinovich, 73; Patrick Leahy, 69; Harry Reid, 70 this year (boy does he look twenty years older than that); Richard Shelby, 75; Christopher (Kit) Bond, 70; Charles Schumer, 59; Christopher Dodd, 65; Barbara Mikulski, 73; Johnny Isakson, will be 65 this year; Roland Burris, 72, NOT RUNNING; Jim Bunning, 78 this year, NOT RUNNING; Judd Gregg, 62; Ron Wyden, 60; Arlen Specter, 79 (he looks 10 years older); Byron Dorgan, 67; John McCain, 73; Barbara Boxer, turns 69; Russ Feingold, 56 (A CHILD IN THIS GROUP); Mike Crapo, 58 (ANOTHER CHILD); Evan Bayh, 54 this year (ANOTHER CHILD); Patty Murray, Will Be 59; David Vitter, 48 (A BABY OF THE GROUP); Blanche Lincoln, 49 (Second Youngest?); Bob Bennett, 54, Yet Another Child); Richard Burr, will be 55 (Another Child); Tom Coburn, 61; Sam Brownback, 53 (Another Child); John Thune, 48 (Another BABY); Jim DeMint, 58; Lisa Murkowski, 52 (she’s young, acts old); Mel Martinez, 63 (NOT RUNNING); Michael Bennet, 60.

There are 325 House Members up for Reelection. I’m not going to list them (you’re glad), but I may make a list for myself of those age 62 and older.

What they really believe:
“Humanity is a virus infecting the Earth Mother Goddess Gaia”.

It’s freakin’ AMAZING how many libtards actually believe that Gaia garbage. Some people have always had a compulsion to worship rocks. It’s just idolatry, plain and simple.
