Tickets Will Be Available For Obama Bozeman Visit (Montana Town Hall This Friday)

President Barack Obama will be holding a “town hall” meeting in Bozeman Friday to discuss his proposed health-insurance reforms, and the general public can attend by getting tickets, likely through some type of lottery system, White House officials confirmed this morning.

The town-hall meeting, one of three the president is planning this week to counter vocal opposition to Democratic health-reform proposals, will focus on the problems of people being dropped by health insurers because of an illness.

Reform proposals before Congress would ban this practice, as well as reform health-insurance markets in other areas.

Sources have told the Lee Newspapers State Bureau that the Bozeman meeting may be at a Gallatin Field Airport hangar, but that detail has not been confirmed by the White House.

Other details of the president’s visit to Montana have not been released.

While some of the seats at the town-hall meeting will be reserved for “invited guests,” the vast majority of the tickets will go out to the general public, officials said. Those attending will not be screened to prevent opponents of health reforms from attending, the White House said.

At past similar events, those wishing to attend have gone to a Web site or called a telephone number to get on a list, and tickets are assigned randomly.

The invited guests likely will be someone who has lost their insurance coverage because of an illness, as well as local elected officials, the White House said.

White House officials said Monday evening that Obama’s town-hall meetings are to counter what they describe as misleading “scare tactics” being used to generate opposition to health-reform plans.

In addition to the Bozeman event, the president is scheduled to hold town-hall meetings today in Portsmouth, N.H., and Saturday in Grand Junction, Colo. He also has scheduled a visit to Yellowstone National Park with his family on Friday and Saturday.

Let's hope the Bozeman event isn't stacked with Obama supporters the way the Portsmouth audience is today.

song and dance routine....this whole series of “town halls” is a big joke.

obama just said (rush ran a bite) “we should have a public option as long as it isnt subsidized by tax dollars...” Honest to God, Hussein said that. Where the hell else is the money coming from??? voluntarily paid FEES? What an idiot.

So Obama, where can I go to read up on your health-care plan? If it is not in writing it is pie in the sky.

I agree. I would bet that over 80% of the people in NH were supporters of the President. Not one tough question was asked. Such as one provision in the bill that states that after one full year of government health care, you can not change insurance companies or change your policy. If you do, you will automatically go on government health care. I believe it also states that insurance companies can not sign on new customers after that first year.

These townhalls are stacked with Obama people. Heard a caller to a radio show say that someone she knew got a ticket. When he went to collect it, others were there. His ticket was plain. But a bunch of people there had purple lines drawn on their tickets. They were being instructed on what to wear. They were obviously Obama thugs, oops, supporters, being “organized”.

There is no chance that fair-minded people, with serious concerns about the nationalization of health care and the rationing it will bring, will be heard at these town halls. Some of the snippets I’ve heard from Obama are, no delicate way to put this, lies.

This Friday? Wow, I may be able to get some warm bodies (genuinely 'fishy' ones too!) over to the airport on Fri. If anybody here finds out more about time and/or details for admission please ping me.

I live in Montana, and given the College Town location, that so-called town hall is going to be scripted down to the last untied shoelace.

Never seen Kabuki in hats and boots?

Go to Bozeman Friday, and you’ll get it.

There are a few rare good provisions in the health care bill. They could be put together and passed nearly unanimously. The republicans should scrape them all together, and offer it as a bill.

Let the democrats go on record denying a vote on the few things everybody can agree on -- then the republicans can explain how the democrats are holding america hostage for their single-payer government-run health plan.
