If I were a Catholic, I’d certainly be demanding some accountability and corrections. I can understand why some folks wouldn’t want to completely abandon their church over this, but I would be extremely troubled by the reports.
I remain a bit skeptical about the total truth on much of this. I’m not interested in denying injured parties their day, but I don’t want the media and special anti-faith interests to be able to manipulate this situation to further their own goals either.
I would honestly like to know more about all this. What types of infractions are proven without a doubt. How widespread were they actually. What forms of physical abuse actually took place on a daily or frequent basis.
Look, I’ve seen abuse cases blown out to near demonic proportions, only to find out none of it took place, so I am quite skeptical of these situations.
Anyone remember the McMartins? Oh they were terrible people. The media whacked them daily for years. Then we found that it was all a big hoax.
I’m just not inclined to believe everything I hear these days without a lot more proof and details.
I knew a few others, in the witch-hunt atmosphere of the 1980s, who had their lives damaged by false accusations.
Unfortunately, the CC’s past actions *screw the pooch*, so to speak.
