"Cheney may or may not win his struggle for the soul of the Republican Party. If we are not careful, he will win the struggle for the soul of the country as a whole."

If only that were possible, Juan.

In spite of their sarcastic comments, it’s obvious even Salon respects Dick Cheney. Most intelligence they have ever exhibited in an article.

Miss Cole clearly dislikes and disagrees with Mr. Cheney.

His dislike apparently blinds him to another possibility: that the reason why "Cheney's principles still inform many of the country's most crucial policies," is because they're not only correct, but also useful and practical.

Juan is speaking from a worldview where "wishes are fishes." He wishes that everybody in the world would play nice, and therefore he apparently believes that everybody in the world is inclined to play nice.

Mr. Cheney, on the other hand, operates from the assumption that there are bad guys who want to hurt us. Admittedly, such an assumption could sometimes be wrong -- but that assumption is usually not entirely wrong, and is certainly not wrong where Islamic terrorism is concerned.

I hope Dick's example of standing up to the Obama thugs rubs off on what is left of the Republicans in congress. Keep it up Dick, rub Obama’s snooty nose in it again.

We LUV Cheney. He’s a man who speaks his mind. Guess the opposition doesn’t like that. Only wish Cheney had spoken up before but...am sure Dubya put the skids to that or he would have. Dubya just sat there and let them attack him at every opportunity without batting an eyelash. That’s NOT how you win battles.

‘Like the creatures in the “Alien” films, Cheney has planted some vicious spores ... ‘

This has got to be the winner of some kind of Ridiculous Anti-Republican Metaphor award. Oh, let’s call it the RARMY award. Old Juan from Salon is definitely RARMY number 1 this week.

Many of Cheney's harshest policies were rooted in a conviction that small terrorist groups might well get hold of nuclear weapons or other very dangerous armaments, and that all necessary steps must be taken to forestall that eventuality, even if it has only slight probability of occurring. (Journalist Ron Suskind called this notion the "one percent" doctrine.)

The author has absolutely no understanding of risk assessment.

It's the likelihood of the event as compared to the impact of the event. If a highly likely act by a terrorist group is known, but it is of low impact and barely dangerous, then it's something to stop, but there's nothing to panic about.

If it's not terribly likely, but the impact is of catastrophic proportions, then you get very, very worried. A spray can of VX at a Rose Bowl; a suitcase nuke exploded in NYC. These have a low probability, but if they get successfully implemented, then thousands upon thousands will die.

The hidden hand of Dick Cheney is apparently giving the Left a none-too-gentle shocker.

He will nail them with the truth! That is if the powers to be actually allow the truth to be told!

I have no faith in the Republicans to do the right thing. Who then but someone who actually has the balls to tell the truth. “The truth will set you free!”

"If we are not careful, he will win the struggle for the soul of the country as a whole."

The Left knows Dick Cheney is telling the truth and that he has the best interests of our country at heart.

They are just hoping against hope that they can prevent the American people from hearing what he has to say.

At the least, they want to scream loudly enough to distract and divert attention from what Dick Cheney says to what they have to say about what he says.

God bless VP Cheney, and God bless our country.
