That's what she got back in 1986 (and in a Barry-free race in '98). Her 42% in '94 was astonishing. But I recall seeing some polling data at the time that indicated Barry had about as close to 100% disapproval from non-Black participants and a decent chunk of Blacks. By all accounts, she should've won, but there are far too many racist Black voters that would put race ahead of competence and a lot of so-called leaders that whip up hysteria at the prospect of Whites winning office. When non-Blacks won a majority on the City Council, that sent many into full-blown terror, as if slavery was making a comeback (scarcely realizing that they're already slaves voting for the party and ideology they knee-jerkly adhere to).
